Nottoway Lake is like Briery Creek, just a lot smaller (188 acres vs 845 acres).  You can use up to a 10HP gas motor on that too.

Bear Creek Lake

Arrowhead Lake

Slate River Lake

I'll take you out on the best lake in Virginia if your willing to make a little drive and pay a little fee, just message back if you want to see pictures of the bass caught out of this lake. Just yesterday our best five bassies were 28lbs. I'm dead serious and I fish tournaments all over the easy coast and there's not a lake that compares. And the funny thing is that it's right here In Virginia. You've never heard of it because it's private. And some would say Illegal to fish without a deed. But it's not a joke, and one of the countries best largemouth bass fisheries is tucked away in Virginia. If you really want to fish somewhere in Virginia that will blow your mind away then let me know. It's a bass fishermen's paradise. And I've spend hundreds of hours out there and know every little stump, rock, and grass patch there is. So let me know.

Not sure what your boat situation is, but Bear Creek Lake has some great bank access if you don't mind hiking the trails a bit.

The Powhatan Lakes are also close, but most of the lakes aren't fishable without a boat.

You could also try Twin Lakes park. Pretty small water, but about half is bank accessible.

I have lived in Powhatan for a couple of years and typically go to Briery or Sandy.   I will have to try out the Nottaway Lake, wasn't aware of it and doesn't look like it is far either.

I have my own boat been to Powhatan lakes plenty of times still looking for that one lake that not everyone knows about
