Had to order two last night, both cars extremely dirty. Amazing what shops want to change something that takes 30 seconds.

At my shop $ 15 - 24 is the average . But unless you have a volkswagen beetle ( devil beast ) meaning 30 - 45 min labor, I will not charge . Now i have i have seen the dealer and other shops charge $$$

I work at Jiffy Lube, and its usually about the price of the filter +10%.

Its one of the easiest upsales, but also one of the least profitable.

But for people who often neglect there cars and maintenance, (atleast in my area), MSRP +10%(ish) is worth it for them to have us do it, rather than try to do something they have no knowledge of how to do (regardless of how easy it is to use the internet  :Idontknow: )

I have seen people come in for a diagnostic as the air would barely come out of the vents , later to find the cabin filter so dirty and full it was actually restricting air flow. Maam did you know you have a yetti in your glove box ?

My old Honda accord was a pain to get to the cabin air filter. You had to take the whole right side apart to get to it. My new CRV takes 10 seconds to get to. I'm glad they made it easier to change them out.

I have to confess, I don't think I've ever changed the cabin filter in any of my vehicles

Filters and fluids are 2 things to always keep an eye on . Routine air filter changes keep a lot of debris off the throttle body and mass airflow sensors . On 5.3 gm engines they are known for throttle position sensors failures which unfortunately are made to the throttle body that can be killed over time from gunk at the throttle plate and debris , they can be  $700 and up parts & labor ...... so check those filters .
