CalBassin Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 Hey guys, CalBassin here!! Just wondering if anyone here fishes the Cal Delta as well and if so, what do you fish with? And what colors? I've seen many red looking craws in the water so I've been using black and red jigs n such. Anyone else have any useful insight? Thanks! Quote
FrogTosser88 Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 I fish the stockton delta... poppers... craw trailer jigs.... topwater frogs and flukes are worth trying Quote
FrogTosser88 Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 I have caught bass on black craws texas rigged..... I would use natural colors or black/purple.. is the water clear there? You fishing the shallow channels or biger water? Quote
Solution starcraft1 Posted May 30, 2014 Solution Posted May 30, 2014 I sell alot of jigs to the delta stores and right now it's these colors that are working; spring craw - g.p./red/org. Black/ blue, Black/red Brn./purple Black/brn./red Trailers depend on what you like, most will work. Head styles: Poison = 3/8,1/2,&3/4 - Football = 3/8, 1/2 - Hook = 5/0 round shank. you can try other types of hook but I think you'll find the round shank to be the best. The water is starting to warm up do to the hotter weather and their no letting much out of the damns. Stay on the upper delta areas (Franks tract up to and pass Stockton on the San Jauquin side, and above Rio Vista on the Sac River. Their having big problems with the sea lions around discovery bay area and mouth of San Jauquin. Punching a 3/4 or 1 oz. poison head works very well in the milfoil & coon tail grasses with out the big exspence of the entire rig. Half the price with better results. Good luck, Bruce Quote

FrogTosser88 Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 The guys at bass pro shop were saying that the RoboWorm Margarita Mutilator (purple top and brown bottom) was extremely popular bait in the delta..I dont fish that far towards the bay. I fish mostly by Stockton... everything near 8mile road.. alot of the areas I fish are farm irrigation but they cam hold monster bass Good luck 1 Quote
