So my goal for this summer was to learn how to start reading patterns effectively. I went out to my local small lake this morning.

Weather wise it was mostly clear skies, about 65-70 degrees and the water was a bit cooler than that. There was about 2-3 feet of clarity and the water was still. I still had my buzzbait on from a couple nights ago, and the water was still, so I tossed that a bit, and then I tossed a Texas rigged trick worm wherever I had missed a fish or caught one. I had noticed that the were hanging out in about 1-3 feet of water, so I kept tossing into lay downs and under overhanging branches.

Overall I had a fairly successful day, maybe 5 or 6 in the two hours I was out. Is there anything else I can assume from the given conditions? And what techniques would you have done given the same conditions?

*also, I was bank fishing, sadly.

For the time you were out and the number of fish you caught, and the fact that you were fishing from the bank, I would say that you had an excellent morning. What you did was working, so I wouldn't have changed anything.

Awesome! I'm glad to hear that! Thanks! Had I not caught any fish, what would you proposed I have done?

I would of skipped a senko back in there if they were hanging out in the first 1-3 ft then maybe a fluke

I was actually debating doing that vs the T=rigged worm, but I just bought some new plastics haha, so they won out.

If the fish are shallow and ive thrown a buzz I'll almost always try a slower top water bait to see if a slower retrieving bait is working better. I usually try a popper or ill walk the dog.
