toddwchandler Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 After a long day at work today I was excited to get home and get a little fishing in. Well, I proceeded to hang my Hedon Spook in a tree, then hung my Booyah Buzz in a different tree, and finally flung my Livingston jerk bait about 30 yards after apparently not tying it on good. So I lose $15 to $25 in lures and get skunked. Should have stayed in the house tonight. 2 Quote
Chris9999 Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Well better luck next time! If you were getting hung up on trees out of the water maybe practicing the casting would be a good so next time you hit the water that doesnt happen. I put on new fluro on one of my spinning reels and I bout lost an entire pack of worms to bad casing all over the course of the day. 1 Quote
toddwchandler Posted May 28, 2014 Author Posted May 28, 2014 I usually don't suck this bad. Just a terribly off day. Quote
bassguytom Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Hey man, trees got to eat too. Sometimes they a hungrier then others. Can't catch no fish on the couch. 1 Quote
Mccallister25 Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Off days happen. I dont like 'em anymore than the next guy. I had a not so great day myself today. A buddy and I went out to his cousins private pond, and he wore 'em out. I threw about everything at em exceot the kitchen sink, and left with not a thing to show for it. Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted May 28, 2014 Super User Posted May 28, 2014 I have a buddy who's notorious for throwing baits into trees. I've been telling him for years that squirrels are not in season. 2 Quote
KYBassin' Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 If a tree doesn't eat your lure now and then you're not really trying. 1 Quote
5 Dollar Fishing Game Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 True that reb67. Lol I've had my share. Quote
reb67 Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 Getting better at retrieving wayward lures and side casting. Tree fishing can be expensive. Quote

toddwchandler Posted May 29, 2014 Author Posted May 29, 2014 So I went back out tonight to the same general area. After I had been out there a little while, I noticed something kind of shiny right up against the bank about three feet from where I was spending. I bend down to get a closer look and lo and behold, it was my Livingston lure that had come untied last night. Happy to get that one back! 1 Quote
skeeter1980 Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 I know a guy who knows a guy in your area.After I told him about your lure,he untied it,and left it there for ya.No thanks needed.LOL 1 Quote
hotdogin Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Similar situation happened to me last summer. Managed to get my LC Sammy in an over hanging branch and for about 20 minutes I tried everything I could to pull it free or at least break the line. Was beyond fed up and gave it one last tug and broke to the tip on my G. Loomis. To make matters worse as soon as the rod broke the Sammy fell out of the branch and into the water just far enough away from me to retreive it. Oh yeah, no fish either. Quote
RMcDuffee726 Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 My favorite moments are when I tie on a new bait, and realize it wasn't the best knot, but I always think it will be okay. I then proceed to sail my bait 25 yards without my line attached to it...Happens to the best of us my man. Quote
MichaelE Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 I hate those days. Everybody has them. I had one outing when I was fishing a local golf course and I lost a $60.00 buck knife, spro frog, a KVD 1.5 square bill and a strike king spinner bait.. I was not a happy person that day Quote
shawnFL Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Same thing happened to me a couple nights ago. Got out of work about 30 minutes early. Went to my local spot. 4 or 5 casts in, popper lands in water, but a gust of wind (it was rainy) blows my line into a tree. I tried to react fast and twitch it quickly. Ended up shooting my bait out of the water and stuck in the tree. Tugged and tugged, finally snapped the line. I was so mad, threw a rock at the tree, broke the branch. Yay, got my popper back. Kept fishing, kept catching nothing. Didn't even catch a cold. Hate those days. Quote
Super User Ratherbfishing Posted June 5, 2014 Super User Posted June 5, 2014 Charlie Brown had his kite eating tree. We have our lure eating trees. Quote
