5 Dollar Fishing Game Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 If you had a terrible experience at a local BPS which escalated to the corporate level (because the store level is too inexperienced to handle it) would you go back if they offered you gift cards? Or what if the corporate people just apologized and didn't offer any gift cards? Just curious. Quote
plumworm Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Wow, your going to have to give a few more details than that. According to your OP, my answer would be: yes, no, maybe, never, not by the hair on my chinny chin chin and absatootly. 1 Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted May 28, 2014 Super User Posted May 28, 2014 I wouldn't go back to that BPS for sure but if I got some gift cards i would spend them online most likely. Depending on what actually happened i may or may not ever shop there again online or otherwise. Quote
Super User Deleted account Posted May 28, 2014 Super User Posted May 28, 2014 I love these. Let me guess, They wouldn't warranty a rod that was out of warranty, no wait, They wouldn't take back used merchandise, no, don't tell me, no receipt. Inquiring minds want to know. 1 Quote
Chris9999 Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 I probably would not go to that specific one but I would spend them online. I luckily live close to two different ones if that ever happened. Quote
5 Dollar Fishing Game Posted May 28, 2014 Author Posted May 28, 2014 Long story. I had a management position lined up there when they opened in February. I interviewed there with 4 managers in 2 weeks because one got fired and the other quit so they had an impromptu interview twice. They Lost my resume 2 times. Lost my application 3 times. Over the course of 6 weeks I was offered the position 2 times and the first one was revoked because the hiring manager got fired. So they started over. Yet again? I arrived for my final interview with HR and the new manager forgot about it! I had to wait an hour in the lobby for another dept manger who was there for his second day! The second time I was scheduled to start work in a week, then the department manager decided he didn't have the budget to fund the position. I called back after I got his voicemail the same day and he transferred to another department. Spoke to the GM, she stated she didn't know all of this was going on and not to bother her if I was not chosen and someone else was. I told her that wasn't the case. She literally said she didn't have time for this and thanked me for applying and a new store is expected to have hurdles. called corporate. The guy there was very nice and had the GM call me back. She seemed nicer, but only nicer because she probably got reemed. Still had an attitude. She said she would look into it. Never heard back from her or the follow up from the district GM. I wasted over 8 hours of interviews and over 300 miles of driving over the course of 6 weeks. Now beyond, two more weeks of no calls back. The fact is I got strung along for over 6 weeks to a dead end. Quote
Crappiebasser Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 I would be amazed if they offer you gift cards for that. No HR should approve that because it could be viewed as an admission of wrong doing on their part if you sued. 1 Quote
5 Dollar Fishing Game Posted May 28, 2014 Author Posted May 28, 2014 Just ticked at all the gas and time I wasted only to have that GM brush it off like nothing. At this rate, they will have a whole new crew by summer. It has been a nightmare. I pretty much just gave up on the whole thing. I surely wouldn't work there now because of all this and have since found work elsewhere. Quote

5 Dollar Fishing Game Posted May 28, 2014 Author Posted May 28, 2014 One of the members of the HR department mentioned the store May issue me gift cards to compensate my fuel and troubles. Also, read my other post regarding your question: "I surely wouldn't work there now because of all this" Quote
atpns1234 Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Yeah I'd take them. I can't believe they were that honest with you. Quote
5 Dollar Fishing Game Posted May 28, 2014 Author Posted May 28, 2014 Before this store was built, the closest BPS was 2.5 hours away. Now it's about 25 minutes. It is a great looking store and they have a ton of family events for the kids too. I have actually shopped there since all of this. The products are great and prices are good. Not to mention a huge selection. I just still keep this bad taste in my mouth and it's hard to get over. The GM doesn't even know what I look like and all the managers I saw have either quit or got fired. So they don't know me by face there. The GM probably doesn't even remember my name. In any event, this is so frustrating. :-/ Quote
5 Dollar Fishing Game Posted May 28, 2014 Author Posted May 28, 2014 atpns1234, what part do you mean about the honesty? Quote
ClackerBuzz Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 gift card severance package for a job never actually started? in all seriousness being unemployed is no fun and I feel ur pain. don't worry something far less frustrating will turn up. in the mean time just be patient, apply to tons of companies, don't put all ur interview eggs in one basket... and fish with your free time! Quote
JimmyKing Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 On the bright side how long could you milk this for excuses to give the other half for reasons to go to bps? "Ugh I have to go for ANOTHER interview" Quote
5 Dollar Fishing Game Posted May 28, 2014 Author Posted May 28, 2014 I am working elsewhere now. Good thing. :-) Still waiting for any follow ups but as I mentioned earlier, I'm pretty much so fed up that I can care less about the whole thing. Sounds like they need to cycle out the staff a few times to get a good one. Similar to changing out break in oil in a new car. Quote
Ima Bass Ninja Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Personally unless the management position was a step up in status or pay from my previous job , after they lost my resume for the second time I would have reservations about working there to begin with and I certainly wouldn't have gone out of my way to try and get the position. Having said that i would care less if the GM took a poop on my lawn if the gift cards were worth enough I'd get my free stuff and then never go back. Quote
Super User Root beer Posted May 28, 2014 Super User Posted May 28, 2014 Why do you expect a gift card for the trouble they caused? Maybe this was their way of saying,"we don't want hire you." Maybe, could be wrong. I've had hiring manager to call me to schedule an interview, then failed to keep the appointment with no reschedule. Sometimes things simply do not pane out, take a shot of whisky and move forward. (Sounds like you did but eff the entire gift card expectations.) Quote
jhoffman Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 I interviewed for a software position with Geisinger Hospital building their software. Two hour drive one way, they ran me through 8 interviews and were supposed to compensate me for travel, thats was agreed before I ever entertained the interview as they came to find ME. Never got the job, never got my money and at the time money was very tight due to a new baby. Didnt bother to fight over it and hindsight being 20/20 im glad that job didnt happen. They never even called me after all that to tell me they chose someone else, heck I didnt even get an email, all communication just stopped. I went from interviewing with development the whole way up the chain as far as you could get local and not one word. Heck they had me writing code with MARKERS, not even a computer. I was beginning to wonder if they were just seeing if they could wear me down. Like I said, they stopped communication, not me. Quote

5 Dollar Fishing Game Posted May 30, 2014 Author Posted May 30, 2014 Yeah. I'm done with it. Still shopping there though. Really love the store. Especially our 7 year old daughter. They have a lot of family events there and if anything, to see her happy makes it worth it to put it behind me. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted May 30, 2014 Super User Posted May 30, 2014 Sounds to me like you dodged a bullet. Quote
fish-fighting-illini Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Wouldn't be a bad idea to put this thread behind us. Quote
5 Dollar Fishing Game Posted June 1, 2014 Author Posted June 1, 2014 Dodged the bullet of not working under that managemt team there for sure. Quote
