Hogsticker Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 I know Sniper is pretty popular, so I'm expecting to hear more thoughts on that than the Gamma. Gamma seems to get quite a bit of love though. The Gamma is a little thicker, but I've heard it is stronger and holds knot strength better. Line management seems to both be favorable. I'm only spooling one T3 with fluoro for weightless plastics, so I want to get it right. No invizx for this guy. Too much stretch. Tatsu sounds good, but I'm not sure it's good enough to justify the price. If so let me know and I will order a spool. I was using Sufix 100% and it started pretty good, but it's time to change. dam0007 Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Im a die hard Seaguar user as of late. Used to be die hard Spider but stuff just isnt the same as it once was. With that said I have gotten through a sample of the Gamma co-poly and Fluoro, both have been great, but did find myself retying a bit more frequently on the fluoro end. I tend to use Abrazx around cover. Where as if I throw a T rig in brush 100 times before seeing the line fraying near the knot, Gamma would be 30-40 times. But then again I retie after every fish. Super User WRB Posted May 27, 2014 Super User Posted May 27, 2014 No it's not thicker, it's larger in diameter or put another way mislabeled. If I tell my 12# line that is labeled 8# is stronger then another brand 8# line labeled 8#, would you believe you are fishing with 8# line? Get your own Avery labels and mark the Sunline Sniper 12# spools with 8# then you will have stronger line with better knot strength. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted May 27, 2014 Super User Posted May 27, 2014 Well, try just one spool of Tatsu and see what you think. It comes on sale occasionally for $28. Quote
Mr. Bassin II Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Per Tackle Warehouse, 200 yards of 12 lb Gamma Edge is $43.95 whereas the comparable spool of Tatsu is $39.99. Don't let the price of Tatsu deter you from compering these two lines. I compared Gamma to Tatsu recently and found Tatsu to be the better line for me. It is more manageable, has less memory, casts much better, and is more sensitive with less stretch to me. Breaking and knot strength seemed to be even, but Gamma is a thicker diameter. Quote
