Super User tcbass Posted May 25, 2014 Super User Posted May 25, 2014 So you just missed a blow up on a topwater frog or other topwater on lily pads/weeds. What do you use as a tossback bait, the same lure or do you reach for something else like a jig or senko? Quote
Maico1 Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 When it comes to Frogs and TopWater I throw the bait well beyond the Blowup point and then bring it right back into that zone the same way before the Blowup. If that does not work I continue that approach just with different retrieves through that strike zone if that fails then a follow up weightless worm gets the call... Quote
Super User aavery2 Posted May 25, 2014 Super User Posted May 25, 2014 I like a large profile plastic, something like a pitboss or a dbomb. Quote
Super User tcbass Posted May 25, 2014 Author Super User Posted May 25, 2014 When you guys are using plastics and stuff are they weightless T-rigs? You aren't trying to punch them through? Quote
bassmaster8100 Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 senko type - for me usually a stik-o Senko for me also. In pads my go to baits will be a hollow body frog usually a River2Sea or StrikeKing. If I miss one on the frog I'll throw a Yamamoto Senko back in there and a large percentage of the time be able to catch that fish. Quote
nascar2428 Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Weightless Senko, t-rigged, in a color similar to the one they missed. Doesn't matter what type my first bait was, any missed strike, if I can get the Senko back to that area, that's what I'm throwing back at them. Quote
Super User tcbass Posted May 25, 2014 Author Super User Posted May 25, 2014 And is the senko on spinning gear or baitcasting? Quote
bassmaster8100 Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 I use both I think it's more about the action of the rod not necessarily whether it's spinning to bait casting. I like it on a 7' MF rod Quote
Super User Catt Posted May 25, 2014 Super User Posted May 25, 2014 Some type of plastic Texas rigged Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted May 25, 2014 Super User Posted May 25, 2014 Weightless texas rig senko on casting gear. Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted May 25, 2014 Super User Posted May 25, 2014 A senko, or if in thick vegetation a compact creature bait. Quote
Super User tcbass Posted May 25, 2014 Author Super User Posted May 25, 2014 A senko, or if in thick vegetation a compact creature bait. Why creature bait over senko in thick vegetation? Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted May 25, 2014 Super User Posted May 25, 2014 Why creature bait over senko in thick vegetation? Hard to get a weightless bait down there if you are in a really thick mat. The senko works better though whenever possible. Quote

So you're not trolling the senko across the top? You're trying to drop the senko down down into pockets? Quote
Super User Montanaro Posted May 26, 2014 Super User Posted May 26, 2014 The point of the follow up bait is to mimic injured prey. Injured frog or shad is going to sink. Quote
