I'm looking for a couple of new spinning rods (7' M action). I've got a budget of $80 per rod. How are the Bass Pro rods in this price range these days?

In the past I've bought the BP Tourney rods and liked them, but that was many years ago. I haven't been to BP in a while so I'm not familiar with what they have to offer these days.

I would wait until carbonlites go on sale for $79 for non-microguide rods.

Agree with TiNuts, either be ok with adding $20 to your total, or hang on for a sale on the Carbonlites to stay within your range. They are really good rods for the money.

I try to get to my local BPS 1-2 x per month, and I almost always handle some rods while I'm there. I've handled every BPS freshwater rod and like the Carbonlites and JM Signature Series II rods over all of them.

Now this is *my* preference. BPS has made a lot of changes to their lineup over the past few years. So if you get to go and handle them, you may find another model you like better. To each his/her own.

I would 3rd the Carbonlite.  If you can't wait, maybe try out the Abu Garcia Veritas for that price range.  You can find them for 79.99.

The bionic blade micro is a decent rod right around that price range.
