Super User iabass8 Posted May 24, 2014 Super User Posted May 24, 2014 Can anybody tell me how much larger (if at all) the knobs that come on the zillion type-r handle are than the T31016s? Are the type r knobs smaller than the lexa knobs as well? I'm really looking for something in between the t3 knobs that are too small and "nimble" and the lexa which is too bulky and heavy. Lews CF handle didn't do it for me and basszone was a no go. Quote

Grantman83 Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 The zillion type r handle is a 90mm compared to the t3 handle which is 80mm. I MUCH prefer the type r knobs and have them on six of my reels. They are Larger and with a tactile grippy feel to them unlike the smooth cork knobs. They are def in between the t3 and lexa knobs in size. I have 4 of the type r handles as well because they are works of art and come with 4 bearings as well. Quote

I put a tatula handle on one of my T3B's. Nice handle but they are impossible to source. Daiwa is out of stock until August and nobody sells them. The knobs are nicer, to me, than the lews. I just cannot stand 80mm handle and the small T3/steez knobs are just to nimble. I'm assuming based on he praise (which is the only info I can actually find on this handle) this is a very light weight handle? That's great to hear about the knob size. Are they the same texture as the lexa or softer? Are the knobs very light weight for their size? The lexa knobs are very heavy and rubbery. I actually love that handle on one of my tatulas for frogging but that's about as far as that goes. all these handles will be used for jigs/trigs. there is no info on these darn handles anywhere. The Jdream handle is .77 oz but that has steez knobs and i think is 100mm. I really want these type-r knobs to not be as heavy or even half as heavy as the lexa but just a tad smaller in size. Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted May 24, 2014 Super User Posted May 24, 2014 RCS has a large version of their knob. It's a bit bigger then the standard RCS style knob. Even has some lines in it for grip. Quote
Grantman83 Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 The handles are light. Knob wise, they have a different feel than the lexa knobs for sure. Feel wise, they have a better grip in that the entire knob has a sandpaper like texture to which grips your finger as opposed to the tire tread of the lexa knobs. Weight wise they aren't the lightest so I guess you should take that into account. Quote

21farms Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 i don't have the zillion type-R but if the carbon handle is anything like the one on my PX type-R, it's a very nice handle indeed. TT confirms that they're real carbon fiber, not just a faux carbon fiber-"look". as for the knobs, i shy away from any knobs with ridges as they just collect gunk and are hard to clean. i have some of my daiwa handles switched over to shimano septon power knobs....you just have to add one extra bearing per knob and they fit just fine. however, the new shimano knobs that come on the curado i's look perfect to me in terms of size, shape and texture...so, as soon as shimano has those in stock, i'm going to convert all my shimanos and daiwas over to those. Super User iabass8 Posted May 26, 2014 Author Super User Posted May 26, 2014 Thanks again 21Farms. The Lew's paddle handles just didn't do it for me. Couldn't stand them. Should have known better. Have only been able to grab one Type-R handle so far. All out of stock everywhere. Quote
Super User aavery2 Posted May 26, 2014 Super User Posted May 26, 2014 There are three sets of Zillion type R knobs for sell on another popular website $35. Probably wont last long. Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted May 26, 2014 Author Super User Posted May 26, 2014 I saw those. I need a 90mm handle for em anyway. Quote
