vegas679 Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 I have a Baby Torpedo that the propeller will not spin in the water. I have tried every thing from unscrewing the back treble hook a little to allow more room for it to move. I've tried bending the blades in different directions...Nothing. It spins just fine out of the water, when i spin it by hand. Just not in the water. Any sugestions. Quote
Chris Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 It could be that the prop is getting pinched by not spinning upright. Your bait might be floating higher in the back instead of tail down so when the water moves the lower part of the blade it causes it to pinch or the hole is to large which will also cause it to pinch. GrizzerGreen Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 I tried to fix my Torpedo after the prop got bent. No luck. Best advice I could give it to do what I did and just go out and pick up another one. Its well worth the money. But if your prop is bent, and Im assuming becasue of all the hits its taken...you should know just how worth the money these little guys are. Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted March 25, 2011 Super User Posted March 25, 2011 That's interesting. I tend to agree with chris and it sounds like the bait itself isn't sitting right in the water (tail down). I actually had a problem with a dog walker where the bait has 2 chambers and the weight got stuck in the chamber closest toward the front and wouldn't walk. I ended up fixing it, but for a lure not to work is frustrating. The bait should sit at like a 45* angle tail in the water check that. As far as getting a new prop (for GrizzerGreen and vegas79) you can get replacements at Janns Netcraft. They have a parts sizing chart in PDF format that you can match the old for the new. If you have any problems locating the chart, send a PM to me and I will help you out. Is the prop separated by 2 beads? Quote
Bass Junkie Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 If its sitting tail-up this might not apply, but since you've already un-screwed the rear terble a bit I'd suggest removing it entirely and boring out the prop hole a little.... But thats my technology, so don't steal it!! (If you haven't read the Prop Jig postings, don't try to get this.... :) Also, if it is sitting tail up-most, I'd try replacing the treble and adding a splitring.... More weight in the back, and it helps hook-ups also.... Just some thoughts..... EDIT: I just saw the picture.... Try bending the prop blades forward at least 20*, or until even with the verticle axis.... The added friction of the water could help, and it also makes more disturbance. Quote
