Is this a good rod this technique? Don't mention *** as I can not order this rod. But others can be mention in that $150 or less price range.

Definitely fine for your uses.  Check on youtube, plenty use them.

At 150, you may be able to score a used Dobyns Champion series rod, 704C 705C,734C 735C, but you have to be quick as they move fast.
