Archer Just Fishin Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Hey guy's< I was wondering if you all could help me make a choice on line. Where, what and why to what. I'm trying to simplify all my gear. As a non boater and an owner of a not so big boat, it would be a ton of help. What say you fellow lip rippers? Quote
Super User Raul Posted May 23, 2014 Super User Posted May 23, 2014 90% of my reels are spooled with nylon and it serves me well 95% of the time. Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted May 23, 2014 Super User Posted May 23, 2014 90% of my reels are spooled with nylon and it serves me well 95% of the time. X2 Except I don't have as many reels as Raul so my percentage is 90% approximately. EDIT: Sorry. I was thinking 95% of your reels were spooled with nylon. How careless of me. Quote
Hogsticker Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 That's tough not knowing what you are fishing with, however if I were to run one line on everything for moving baits, bottom contact, and anything on slack line, my clear choice would be Sunline Defier Armillo Quote

B@ssCrzy Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Braid with a leader for everything, but my cranks/trebel hook rod. I have mono on that. The leader allows you to switch to whatever the situation dictates. Quote
TJwaterson Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 A Fluorocarbon leader or copolymer leader with braid main line are what I use most of the times. FC+Braid is nothing new to say. But the copolyer + braid is a great thing to work with. Quote
CDMeyer Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 I would use mono, it is very versitlal, and if not that then I would go with floro 1 Quote
LMB KING Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 CDMeyer is right. Mono is the most versatile line you can buy. If you can use only one line, it will be mono. Quote
Super User aavery2 Posted May 24, 2014 Super User Posted May 24, 2014 Man I am glad that I don't have to pick just one. I was running over the different scenarios in my head and if there were only 1 line to cover every technique, I would probably have to go with braid, with the caveat I could use a leader as I wanted. BasshunterJGH Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 I use fluoro for most applications, mono for for topwaters and braid for flipping, pitching and frogging Quote

Hogsticker Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Perhaps keep in mind all mono and fluoro lines are not created equal. Good suggestions none the less Quote
bassguytom Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 If trying to keep it simple use mono. It has been around a lot longer then anything else and works fine for most applications. When you start getting more advanced you can try braid and floro. I started using mono as did everyone on her but now use all 3 for different techniques. Good luck. Quote
