Super User Raider Nation Fisher Posted May 23, 2014 Super User Posted May 23, 2014 Facebook recommended people I may know. Yay me! People i used to know but could care less about now. Still interesting to see what people I used to know now look like. Well, ol Facebook screwed the pooch on that one tonight. Who in the hell would I possibly know that lives in Abu Dhabi!?! Or in India, or for that matter in Kazakhstan!?! Either they ran out of people to recommend to me or they are just grasping at straws now. I mean its not even recommending people who know people I know. Well I'm going to attempt to converse with my new Kazakh friend and my new Abu Dhabi friend. 2 Quote

tipptruck1 Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 They usually find friends sisters for me. Some times there moms. I think they want more drama on my Facebook page. Since I haven't posted on mine in over a year. There are many laws and rules. That I have no problem breaking. A friends sister and mom are off limits for good. That is part of the man code. Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted May 23, 2014 Super User Posted May 23, 2014 Facebook? Really? And I thought you were a maverick, independent, don't go along with the crowd kind of guy. 2 Quote
tipptruck1 Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 I know you are talking to Raider. I would not use it at all if it wasn't for my family. They all have my number. For some reason. When some in the family dies, gos to the hospital for some thing serious. The whole world knows before I do. Usually when I find out some one died. I get the news around 12-18 hours later on Facebook. No one can call me. I might not answer my phone. As I am busy at work or not around my phone. Leave a message. I will get back to you as soon as I can. But a phone call would be nice. You would think with me being family and all. I would at lest get a phone call. Quote

The world is changing, and it has left me in its wake. My wife is an "active" member of the facebook community. Actually she's an active member in one of the sub groups, or whatever you call it when there is a group of people who alone have access to their group/club. She signed me up for an account a few years ago, against my wishes. I don't go there, and whenever I receive a facebook notice via email, I delete it instantly. Updates, friend requests, etc., I don't want to spend a minute of my time, let alone minutes, to keep up with and participate in all the facebook goings on. For those who like it, great. It's just not my cup of tea. Quote

mod479 Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Content on that site has gone way downhill. Even tried to fill mine up with fishing sites, reports, tackle companies. Still nothing in my news feed except selfies, babies, and humble-brags. Deleted it. 1 Quote

I use it for keeping up with my electrician friends all around the country. We are so scattered out that it is easier than trying to hold a group call. Quote

crankcaster100 Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 My only complaint with Facebook is people bugging me with invites to play candy crush or Farmville or lucky slots 1 Quote
