BigMoneyGrip Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Whats your thoughts on this line? I've been using InvizX but it's not available locally but I can get the Trilene 100%. It will be 10 & 14 lbs. Whaddya say? Thanks, Scott. Quote
Super User Tywithay Posted May 23, 2014 Super User Posted May 23, 2014 It has decent abrasion resistance, but it doesn't handle worth a darn. The first day I spooled it, it was nice. A week later after not using it, it had so much memory you could barely cast it. Quote
Crankinstein Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 I have #12 InvizX on one reel and #12 Trilene 100% on another. Side by side I have to say I like both and they both have advantages. I think the Trilene is stronger and has less stretch. The InvizX has better knot strength however I usually end up using a palomar knot on both just to be safe. The InvizX handles slightly better but I've noticed wind knots can get real bad with it. I don't think one is head over heels better than the other therefore they could be suitable substitutes. I actually ended up using Trilene 100% the first time because they were out of InvizX at my local store as well, ended up catching that beast in my profile pic so I have to say I'm satisfied with its performance. Mr Swim Jig Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 I would order Seaguar InvizX way before I would try Trilene 100% fluorocarbon again. That line when I tried it had horrible memory and just flat out didn't perform at all. Quote
LMB KING Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 I prefer Seaguar InvizX over the other, If you wait, you can buy it cheap on eBay or one of those websites. I rather buy and wait for quality rather than buying it efficiently, but that's just me. I learned the hard way. Quote
NathanW Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 It has its place. Most the comments so far are pretty accurate. It is stiff, doesnt hadle great and has above average memory. I say it has its place becasue it is strong and abrasion resistant with very low stretch. I like it a lot for leaders, and mainlines on T-rig, Jig, stickbait, C-Rig, and football jig. But wont use it for any reaction stuff and wound not dream of using it as mainline on spinning gear. Lines it is comparable to are Abrasx and Shooter both of which I also like just fine for these applications. If you are a Fluorocarbon newbie I would probably look for an easier handling line (seagar red label or invizx would be my recommendation), but if you really know what you are doing you will really appreciate Trilene 100%'s strengths. Tim Kelly Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 I like original 100℅ on casting gear and have started using the newer 100℅XL on spinning. Both work well for me. I tried sublime shooter on casting and honestly didn't think it was significantly nicer and not worth the price increase. Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted May 23, 2014 Super User Posted May 23, 2014 I bought a spool of 20# test to use on a swimbait tossing rig. Took it off after the first trip. Way too much memory for my taste. I switched that rig to 25# TripleFish mono and am happy I did. I've used Trilene "Transition" line for several years and liked it on my medium action 8# test rig. I can see this line quite well and the handling is fine. Now, however, I've even switched this rig to using 10# braid (PP) with a fluoro leader. I'm pleased with this change. No problems thus far. JWOA Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 I prefer invizx...love that stuck compared to trilene...invizx has less memory a little more stretch and better not strength Quote
Arv Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 FWIW, I use 8# as leader material. Obviously I can't say much about the manageability, but strength and abrasion resistance have never been an issue for me Quote
BigMoneyGrip Posted May 23, 2014 Author Posted May 23, 2014 Thanks guys! I'll just order some InvizX and be done with it. I've used it for several years now and love it. Plus, the wife canceled the fishing trip this weekend anyhow. I get to mow grass and clean the floors instead. 1 Quote
Arv Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 If it ain't broke, don't fix it! Have fun cutting the grass Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted May 23, 2014 Super User Posted May 23, 2014 I've been using Trilene 100% FC for a few years now and I have had zero issues with it. It's got very good abrasion resistance and I think it's better than other fc's I've tried. Quote

Super User aavery2 Posted May 23, 2014 Super User Posted May 23, 2014 Never used it and probably won't based on what I have witnessed. Fishing partner spooled some 100% onto a couple of reels and treated them with KVD the night before we went fishing. He did not enjoy the line and it was removed immediately after our short fishing trip was over. I have never heard anyone say anything positive about the line. Quote
BigMoneyGrip Posted May 24, 2014 Author Posted May 24, 2014 Don't know about cleaning the floors, but next to fishing, I love doing yard work. Hootie Hoot, I have 36 acres so your heart should be content! Quote
Super User Chris at Tech Posted May 24, 2014 Super User Posted May 24, 2014 8lb on my spinning gear didn't work out well - too much memory. 10, 12, 15, 17 and 20 lb on my baitcasters has been just fine for me. Take time to spool it, treat liberally with line conditioner and you'll be fine Quote
