Scorchx1245 Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Is it a good idea to fish for bass at night yet? It's gonna be mid to high 50s tonight? water temp at 56. Thanks! Quote
Djman72 Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 only one way to find out! Just use something that has a lot of vibration or makes a lot of noise. Once you find a few fish in an area you can slow down and use a more finesse approach Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted May 23, 2014 Super User Posted May 23, 2014 i have caught some really nice bass at night when others have told me it was too cold to fish-including my PB on an 11" or 12" black worm fished on a 1/4 oz non-skirted jig with no rattles. A big black single Colorado bladed spinnerbait also killed that night in very similar conditions to the ones you describe. Dress warm, wear your PFD, and go fish! 1 Quote
fishva Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 My personal best is a joke that haunts me. It came at night on a cool spring evening with my plastic worm 6 inches from shore, while talking to a friend. There was no fight, I just had to lean over and pick it up. So yeah, they bite then. And yeah, I can't believe I'm still chasing the most accidental fish I ever caught. 1 Quote
Scorchx1245 Posted May 23, 2014 Author Posted May 23, 2014 The wind picked up a bit with a cold front moving in, so I decided to stay in, didn't want to have my line tangle in tree branch lol Quote
Kevin Beachy Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 My friend caught a 8lb using a tiny torpedo when it was night time. I recommend something with a prop on the front and back. Quote
BassFit Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Air temps never really concern me. I'm looking at water temps and the bodies of water I'm choosing to hit. Some of my best "days" fishing have been at night. Quote
Theangler1 Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 I was fishing about the same conditions last night, the water might have been a degree or two warmer though. Slayed them on a spook. Man is that a great way to catch them at night. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted May 27, 2014 Global Moderator Posted May 27, 2014 I've caught them at night when there was still snow on the ground and portions of the lake still frozen. If the chance presents itself, a bass will react. It may not be as good as during the heat of the summer, but there's still fish to be caught. Quote
Gary0155 Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 I've had the best luck fishing at night. I use a dark color spinnerbaits. Quote
grumpydog Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 First off, 57 Degrees!???!!??? Enjoy it, even if you dont catch anything. Supposed to get down to 76 tonight, 80% humidity. Can you say moist? Anyway, the fish are already wet. Throw a large jointed black jitterbug and listen for the fun to start. Quote
