Cashion makes a nice rod and so does Shimano. Take your pick. If micro guides aren't your thing then you won't like the Cashion. It has the smallest guides I've seen on a rod. It is super light and the grip is nice.

The 6'8" heavy fast tip is $150 and the 7'2" med. heavy extra fast tip is $160. Is it worth the $10 more to get the extra fast?

I have never fished a Cahion but have sevral Shimano Crucials rods from a 6'8" drop shot to a 7'11" swimbait rod and they are some of my favorite rods to fish with.

I like a longer rod for bottom baits. You pick up more line on the lift and also the hookset. Choose the power based on the weight of you baits. Some companies med/hvy is another's heavy.

I have an older model crucial (5-6 yrs old) with the full cork handle and its an excellent rod,i prefer it over my legend elite at times.

Used both. Don't own any more Shimano rods because of how many break. They have a great warranty but it's needed because I've never known anyone that hasn't broke one. Cashion is more sensitive and better quality. Some people don't like the grips or micro guides, but that's personal preference in my opinion.

Homers, you don't know me but I've owned a Crucial dropshot rod since they first came out years ago - and it's still going strong!

I can't say I've ever heard of many breaking that aren't from user error and that's still not many. I'm even a known affiliate of #teamantishimano and will tell you it's a nice rod.

Crucials are being discontinued so you batter act fast

Discontinued?! I was under the impression they're being replaced at ICAST. Hope they're not going the way of the Dodo.

Have owned several and never broken one. I personally don't care for the carbon grip on the cashion. The crucial grips are very comfortable. Still not my favorite Shimano rod, but for the sale price they're a good deal.

I was told by a Shimano rep that the new line will be available very soon...so Crucials aren't going anywhere according to him.

Or buy when they are on clearance.
