GADawgs Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 I have decided to get a Lews TP. It will be paired with a 7'3" MHF rod mainly used for jigs and plastics. I am trying to decide between a 6.4:1 or the 7.1:1 ratio. From what I have read the 7.1:1 most likely is a better ratio for what I am doing but I have never used that ratio before and want to ask advice before I pull the trigger in the next few days. Thanks! Quote
ColdSVT Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 Get the 7.1 I have a 7.1 TP on a 7'3 LTB MH.spiinerbait/jig...its probably my favorite combo! Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 I prefer the faster reel myself but it's all personal preference between those two. A low ratio/IPT reel provides a substantial mechanical advantage for deep cranking, but beyond that the difference is more subtle. Quote
Super User aavery2 Posted May 22, 2014 Super User Posted May 22, 2014 The 7.1:1 has a higher IPT and gets you back to the boat faster for another cast. Quote
