stiko97 Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 I have a Abu Garcia Black Max on a 6'10" MH X-fast action rod. What should I fish with this thing? I threw some mono backing and 50# braid on it, I plan to do some frogging. I'm not sure if that's what this set up is made for (lol) but if not, what type of baits should I fish on this setup? Quote
Solution John G Posted May 22, 2014 Solution Posted May 22, 2014 Jigs, weighted soft plastics, maybe some unweighted too, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, smaller swimbaits, etc etc etc. Do you know how to cast it? If so, just go to your favorite store and buy a bag or two of Zoom Trick Worms, Strike King Rage Tail Craws or Yum Money Craws, a pack of Gamakatsu 3/0 and 4/0 EWG Hooks and a pack of 1/4 bullet weights and have some fun. I'll still throw it around for a bit and see how I do. How much weight should I fish with a senko? or a super fluke? and should I tie the weight a few inches above the bait so it doesn't slide or should I just put the weight on the line so that it can slide freely? John G Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 You can fish a frog. I don't know how stout your rod is but tie one on and throw it out and start reeling. I usually throw a Senko and a Fluke weightless but you can add weight if you want. A Senko is already pretty heavy but with the Fluke, I would Texas Rig with a 1/8oz bullet weight and let it slide freely. Quote
