Hello guys:) After doing some research I have narrowed down to a few rods. Unfortunately I have been reading conflicting messages so I would like to put it out there one more time for a final consensus! I heard the Dobyns Savvy 735 is a great rod especially for frogging, but at that price point not the most sensitive for bottom contact. I was also looking into the Daiwa Tatula 7' 4" H F action rod and finally the *** Black 7' 3" H F action rod was also another choice.

Is the *** Black comparable in sensitivity to the Savvy or the Tatula? or is it you get what you pay for? I imagine I will be utilizing this rod in any heavy cover with braided line so big jigs, t-rigs, swimbaits, and froggin will all be used with this rod. Given that the Tatula and the Black are fast action...will that be a detriment with bottom contact lures such as jigs and t-rigs?  Finally any ideas where I can get the best deals for these rods? I know there are a lot of questions, but I appreciate any feedback.

I think the Tatula is the most sensitive, and the best built, of the three. Followed by the *** as a close second for sensitivity, though I had some quality issues. A fast action will be great for jigs and t-rigs. I will say that the heavy is a beast of a rod, so you may only need a medium-heavy, unless you're fishing in some serious nastiness. Best deal right now for the Tatula is thehookuptackle, as they're in the midst on a 20% off sale. The *** black will be on sale at TW here shortly for probably 15% off. I think the Savvy is a really nice rod, but I agree that there are better options for the money; the Tatula being one of those.

i have the dobyns 735 champion and the daiwa tatula 7'6" flipping stick. i played with the tatula frog rod in the store...man, that thing is stout. THUT told me that the frog rod is the best-selling tatula rod but i didn't much care for it as i think it feels too powerful and i can't see how it has enough "tip" to toss hollow-body frogs well. my champion 735 is good at almost everything but i have never fished the savvy version so i don't know if it's the similar, i sure do love my tatula flipping stick though and absolutely would not hesitate to use it for frogs, t-rigs and jigs...daiwa calls it a flipping stick but it doesn't feel like any of the flipping sticks i've ever had before...seems ultra versatile to me and i'd recommend that as an alternative for you to consider.

I think Ron stocks the Tatula rods at Valley Sports. If so, give him a PM and see what he can do for you. His prices are crazy good.

checked out the tatula rods today and  i went with the 7'6". it actually has a slightly longer handle and i also seem to feel the extra inch at the top made it "whip" a little better so i went with that at thehookuptackle. thanks again everyone
