Are these rods good for the money?

Yes. If you're talking the Carbonlites, or his Signature rods. They are quite good for the money, especially when you find them on sale. My current favorite combo is a 6'6" (now 6'2") MF casting (carbonlite) rod paired with a Chronarch 50e. Super light setup, rod is plenty strong to bring in any fish (so far). Tip broke because one of our knucklehead dogs (11 month old lab=hyper) stepped on it. Otherwise, excellent rod.

I have (5) bait casters and 4 spinning signature series rods. I also have the Carbonlites in spinning for my wife. I love the signature series over the Carbonlites because they feel a little more sturdier. But I also like the Carbonlites on my spinning reel because they are very light. Both rods in my opinion are excellent rods and when you get them on sale, or do the Spring trade-in you can get a great deal. You won't be disappointed. I have Abu Revo Premiers on my bait casters, and Pflueger Supreme on my spinning rods.

I've got one of the older Signature series rod and I like it. It's sensitive and has a good overall feel.

I use a Carbonlite 7' Med Fast spinning rod for Weightless TX Rig, Small square bill crankbaits e.g. Manns baby 1 minus, Tubes, Split Shot rig. It's light and has a lot of snap for long casts. They go on sale quite often. Would not use a carbonlite spinning reel.
