I just bought the Mitchell 300 pro and its 9.9 oz. Now how do I find a rod that will work very well with that reel? Ive been looking at a medium Abu Garcia Veritas. Any ideas?

I can't really help...but from my experience I srltart with my color set up and I begin to match from there. I try to get the color scheme I want and then I try out the rod and reel. My local sports center will allow me to test and balance the rod

Cheers

I match the reel with i want to use the rod for

For example on my jig and t rig rods i have 7.1 or higher ratios and 6.4 or lower on my crankbait rods

Weight comes into play some for balancing but color means nothin to me lol

Yes true..I'll set up my rod for the specific setup but to me besides balance setup color has to match or look decent to me

Im mainly conceded with the weight/balance. For instance, if I had the 9.9oz reel would I need a certain length or weight to a pole?

Being that it's a spinning rod you shouldn't have much trouble. The Veritas would be ok I think. Spinning reels hang below the rod so they usually balance out well. I've never had a tip heavy spinning combo. Casting is a whole different story.

Thank you for the help, but what do you have to say about casting? Whys that so different?

I was just basically saying that I've never owned a tip heavy spinning rod but casting I have owned a few. I went through a lot of rods because of this. Buying them based on others input and then not being happy about how they balanced out.

Take your reel with you and try it on the rod you like, go with what you find feels the best in the power and action your wanting. Any shop will let you do this. Then your as close as you van get without building a custom rod to match your reel. Color and bling don't catch fish! Like Lipps said, I wodn't pay much attention to what will work unless they have the same setup, then it might not be right for you!
