cjam93 Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 Hey guys so I am wondering what EWG hook sizes you would recommend I use for a few of these different worms. 4in. Senko 5in. Senko 10.5in Ol Monster Rage Tail Cut-R Worm Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted May 21, 2014 Super User Posted May 21, 2014 Just make sure the hook is at least twice as wide as the bait and you'll be fine 2 Quote

Senko 10.5in Ol Monster Rage Tail Cut-R Worm Senko's; 4" use 1/0 weedless wacky hook, 5"& 6" 2/0 weedless wacky hook. Owner or Gamakatsu. Rarely T-rig a Senko, prefer wacky with or without nail nose weights.6" finesse worms use 1/0 or 2/0 straight Owner 5100 or Gamakasu #49412 7" worms, 3/0 round bend wide gap Owner 5103 or Gamakatsu 484 8" to 9" worms, 4/0. " 10 to 12" worms, 5/0 " Tom Not a fan of EWG off set hooks. Quote
Grant Schuen Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 in my opinion a 3/0 ewg hook is a all around good hook for most soft plastics. Quote
NathanW Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 I use 5/0 for 5" senkos. 4/0 for 4" Senkos. I go a bigger for the added weight for casting gear's sake. If I am fishing spinning gear I am typically wacky rigging now. Yamamoto is so soft that you dont need as much gap as you do with other plastics so you could esily get by with smaller. I just make sure I have a fast rod with a solid backbone. Quote
Mr. BattleArmor Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 I get by with almost all my EWG hook needs with a 4/0. For smaller finesse worms such as when Texas rigging a 4 or 5" senko, or a trick worm, I use a 3/0 Offset worm hook, not ewg. Quote
Jigs Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 what is interesting is that Gary Yamamoto himself says to use 3/0 hooks for his 5" senkos Quote
