So I know these baits are pretty pricey for something that will eventually get shredded by bass (used to be $5.69 each, now $8) but I think they might be worth it. I haven't gotten to fish them very much, but watching how the fish react to these baits has really given me tons of confidence in them. The little hudd tail doesn't look like it's doing much but the fish say otherwise, they have choked the bait as soon as you feel a thump. It's like a cross between something you would use for power fishing and a finesse bait. I can cover water but at the same time I feel like those fish that might not chase down a spinnerbait or crank will still eat it. I have been catching them by fishing it as slow as the water depth allows, usually close to a piece of cover is where I get bit. The grass minnow works well too, but they are a lot less durable so I probably won't get many more of them. Dinks will eat the hudd shad too

Grease them up with some Megastrike and keep some Mend It handy and they'll last quite awhile. They're great limit getters, especially around water willows and other vegetation.

Weedless Shads are amazing. Throw those or Grass Minnows on a spinning rod and put some split shots on the line and go to work. The little bit of added weight works so much better. This year I think I have gone through like 7 or 8 and all of them pretty much all ripped super fast for some reason. Catch a couple of fish and they pull through so bad even fixing them doesn't even help me much. I am not really digging that lately when using them now.

I have been looking to getting one of these huddlestons and get into swimbaiting.  How does the weedless shad compare vs. the weedless grass minnow?  Or should I get one of each and have at it?

I like the shads the best. They both catch a ton of fish though. Shads weigh a little more and just catch bigger fish I think.

The grass minnows are tiny, not that the shads are very big. I rarely fish with them except in tournaments because they tear so easy.

They didn't always seem to tear so easy. This year it's like there formula is weaker or I am having bad luck with them tearing through really fast. Or on the other hand maybe I was always super lucky for years and now it's catching up to me. I am saying maybe 4 fish and its pretty hit. I had 1 completely pull out on the first strike ever this year. All I got back was a hook with some lead. As much as I would love to use them I don't as much as I did in the past.

Got mine in December, didn't catch any the first few times. Went out a couple week ago and caught 4 fish, the biggest going 5 pounds in one trip. It outfished my friend and produced for three trips after that. Good bait!

Depends on what the conditions are but overall, I would go with the shad. They are more durable than the minnows
