Mccallister25 Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 Thinkin about possibly looking into a kayak. What is the storage like, as far as rods and tackle? Hard to set hooks? Quote
200racing Posted May 20, 2014 Author Posted May 20, 2014 youtube has reviews that can give better answers. two vertical rod holders behind and one pivoting in front of you. decent storage. i dont have any fishing feedback, just bought it and put it in the barn till work slows down. comes with a folding achor and rope too. Mccallister25 Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 Thanks man. Ill def. do some research. A lot of people are into it now. I wonder if its hard to get used to. Quote
200racing Posted May 20, 2014 Author Posted May 20, 2014 My brother in law has a ascend 128 I have fished out of a few times. It is not too bad of a transition. main thing is keeping your tackle simple. It has a sleath feel to it you don't get in a boat. Quote
MikeinFresno Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 I have a FS as a loaner. It is not too bad a yak, it is lighter than a name brand, but it has thinner plastic as a result. I bought it used in great shape for $185 Quote
Flywatersmallie Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 I have the same boat. I like it. Had it for a couple weeks now. I sold my WS Tarpon last fall and wanted to get back out away from shore. Honestly, I like it better than I liked my Tarpon. Its more stable, more room and aside from not being able to fit a crate in the tankwell, its a solid competitor to some boats costing twice as much. Is it a Hobie? No but it isn't $3000 either. I paid $399 for mine and they let me use my points right away so $20 off a paddle. My original plan was to get a Native Redfish for $400 more. I saw this, liked the platform, the seat sucks! So, for $400, I got the boat, then upgraded the seat, added a fish finder (Lowrance Elite 4 HDI that came with the free lakemaster chip), paid for my paddle and have $100 left for the bait monkey. Sweet deal to me. After having it out a couple times, I think I made the right choice and would recommend to anyone looking to get off the bank for cheap. Like I said, the seat sucks, replace that and be happy. I can stand in mine so its a stable, well suited fishing platform. Tough to beat for the current sale price! Quote
Flywatersmallie Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 I started to do that... Then the kayak version of the bait monkey got a hold of me and I spent way too much on a made for kayak seat. Very comfortable though Quote
