noway Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 I was watching Larry Dahlberg's "The Hunt For Big Fish." Larry and Patrick Sebile suggested that using an extra split ring on the center hook of a crankbait would increase the hook up potential much like the rotating treble. What say the hive? Quote
Chaz Hickcox Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 I saw that too. I think it would, but there is the extra weight factor that needs to be addressed with it. The extra weight may impact the action of the baits. Quote
Bass Junkie Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 I agree on the weighting issue, especialy on suspending baits, but I doubt that it would have any noticable effect on the lure's action...... Quote
Super User Hooligan Posted March 23, 2011 Super User Posted March 23, 2011 Highly doubt that the weight of a single split ring is going to be a major issue in terms of action; now if we're talking Wolverine triple rings in size #7, sure, but not a standard ring. Quote
Bass Junkie Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 It can effect suspending lures...... But you're rightabout it not affecting the action. Quote
R520dvx Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 Why not just replace the trebles with Spintechs ??? Quote

Super User J Francho Posted March 23, 2011 Super User Posted March 23, 2011 You realize they were speaking of much larger game, where the fight is much more prolonged, and chances of the fish gaining leverage on a hook is greater. For bass, its mostly unnecessary. Quote
