hotdogin Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 Any tips for Lake Varner? More specifically, tips for there with the cold front that we just had come through? Quote
Violinguy Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 Haven't been to Varner yet, but I'll tell ya, the weather has been unkind when it comes to fishing lately. Had the a/c on 10 days ago then almost had to turn on the heat last week. Several nights in the 40s in mid-May. Nuts. I was going to go to a local pond this morning but called it off after the storms we had the last couple of days and cold weather. Will be going tomorrow though... I'm going to be fishing almost exclusively plastics this week, with a few cranks mixed in. If I get there early enough I'll try some topwater, but I'm guessing the weather has moved the bass deeper. hotdogin Posted May 20, 2014 Author Posted May 20, 2014 Buddy and I went today despite the weather this morning. Pretty glad we did as the sun finally came out and started warming things up. Caught three in the same area, average depth was 5ft in this area. All three were caught within an hour and hooked using a 6th Sense jerkbait in a sexy shad color. First one was a dink, second one was a minimum 5 pounder, and finally, to my surprise and first time ever, a pike that was roughly 24" long! Quote
