hookingem Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 I love using the fluke in summertime! Throw it weightless and weedless into the lilly pads and watch the big mamas blowup on it because they think its a bait fish eating insects. Quote
Super User bilgerat Posted March 18, 2011 Super User Posted March 18, 2011 They blow. Couldn't catch a cold on 'em.... Quote
GTrombly Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/soft_sticks.html Here's an article. I like them but use the sluggo more. Think it's a northeast thing. Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted March 18, 2011 Super User Posted March 18, 2011 Love tossing baby flukes on a scrounger head.. Quote
Captain Obvious Posted March 18, 2011 Author Posted March 18, 2011 I can still see my first fluke fish. I was jerking it off the bottom and it was about 4 ft from me when I jerked it out of the water. A bass came flying after it out of the water and I think he got it in mid air. All I know is that I set the hook when the bass hit the water and it was fish on. One of those moments I'll never forget. Capt.O Quote

Brandon K. Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Those things have crack in them. I can't and wont stop buying them and the smallies and LM wont stop eating them. Weightless, Weighted, Scrounger, Dropshot, Carolina rig, can't go wrong. Twitch, twitch, pause. Cast past your target or up onto shore if your fishing from a boat and kill it when you reach your intended target. Twitch it again and FISH ON!!!! Quote

Flukes were discussed quite a bit a few years back and as recently as mid-2010. Use the search tab, type in Zoom Super Fluke or Zoom Fluke, highlight the tackle thread, choose "all posts" in the drop-down, and check the box to display only one result per thread. You'll have to search through them to find those that tell you how to fish it but they are there. Unfortunately, unless you can make this more specific, it will only take you back to 2008 because of the maximum limit of 150 results to display. Here's a thread from 2010 that gives some decent info. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1276271586/0 Quote
AverageJoeBass Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Last summer on some of the ponds we fished the Zoom Flukes were great! The water levels had gone very low (due to very low rainfall levels) and the vegetation was very high! We put on some white Flukes and fished them weightless Texas rigged. Saved our day of fishing because we could dance across the vegetation and have it drop in the few spots were there was no vegetation and we were on the bass. Quote

Luke at Gouldsboro Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 I've never used flukes, but this winter I bought a coup;e packs of them, and have been researching how to fish them. What colors do you guys use?? Quote
GTrombly Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 I like the arkansas shiner and bubble gum. Quote
bassmasterdb33 Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 I make my own 5in flukes and 6in slug-o and crush em on white w/red and black flake. But hookups are sometimes a pain with these baits. Quote
Captain Obvious Posted March 20, 2011 Author Posted March 20, 2011 well? how do you fish it? What has produce for me the best so far is letting it sink to the bottom and then jerking and pause retrieve. Just so you guys know I've read most threads and articles on BassResource.com about fishing the fluke. I was just being sarcastic ;D Quote
unageo09 Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 I like pulling them on top of the water in a zigzag motion. Bass like 'em. I bought some of the strike king shads and used them a bit this week but didn't catch anything. I think they have real potential. Quote
