Like the title states, I need a review of the new IMX's from G Loomis. Specifically I'm interested in how the umbrella rig and swimbait rods cast. I like the fact that the swimbait rod has a mod-fast taper. I want to know how it loads on the backswing.

Can't speak for those particular models, but I was not impressed with the 873 CRR. The handle was too skinny and very short, plus the cork felt cheap; it was completely full of filler. It was extremely tip heavy as well, big no-no for a carolina rig rod. Sensitivity is kind of subjective, but it was about on par with my $150 Tatula rod. My KLX feels far lighter and more sensitive. Only good thing I can point to is the build quality, rod was flawless. I sold mine after using it for a few hours.

I own one IMX the last loomis I will buy. I was not happy with the balance the weight or the sensitivity, I replaced it with  St. Croix Avid and am very happy with it.

Buy a GLX or NRX from G Loomis, and you will not have any complaints!  Never seen one bad thing anyone had to say.  I own a NRX spinning, and it is my favorite rod, now going to pick one up in casting.  The NRX is flat out awesome, very tough, sensitivity is scary sensative, action is great, and has a very good warranty compared to the IMX.  Every rod wishes it is one of these.  Im not trying to get you to spend more money, but it is worth it to go GLX or NRX is Top of the line.

A GLX or NRX rep sample can easily be had for under $400 depending upon what model you are looking at getting. Also depending upon the rod, you could have it multi-task for other feel techniques. I have an older IMX MBR844 and love the rod.

I do to but I find myself wishing that I would have bought the GLX instead.

I thought all loomis rods carry a life time warranty?

I won a new IMX in an online contest. Honestly, Im a little dissapointed in the rod and will probably sell it before fishing it again. I have the 894JWR, and I must be spoiled by my Dobyns because this thing is tip heavy, and no where near $300 sensitive. I will say this, I really like the tip, and action of the rod for pitching T-Rigs. But thats about the only positive I can find in that rod.

With the Memorial Day sales upon us, buy a Champion swimbait rod for less money than the new IMX.

I found the same. I'd never spend the money for another IMX, when the Kistler KLX is lighter, more sensitive, and better balanced; plus over $100 cheaper. There's much better options out there, unless you want to pay for a name.
