My fiancé Kelsie caught this 23-inch, 7 pound pig tonight at Sanborn Lake near Stillwater, OK!! It is her new PB by about 6 lbs!! My current PB is only 6 lbs 6 oz!! She is just learning to bass fish and earlier in the night I helped her practice setting the hook since we were using Zoom Horny Toads in the thick stuff and she is mostly used to buzzbaits, cranks, and spinnerbaits..... boy did she set the hook!!! She caught this on only a pink breast-cancer awareness edition Shakespeare Medium action spinning combo. She usually has 6 lb Trilene on the rod, but thankfully due to our frogging trip today I put 30 lb Power Pro on it for her!!! WOW I am just so proud of her!! Needless to say she is hooked!! And this is good for my fishing habit ;) !!!

That's awesome!  Now if you can just teach her how to rig up her own rods reels and tackle, you might have scored on a fishing partner for life!

So funny how that works, ever noticed how seasoned anglers can catch the numbers consistently but it is always the people with minimal experience that catch the giant. Been there done that in this scenario numerous times. Congrats to her, what a giant.

That is one fat bass. Look at the size of the mouth on that thing; pretty sure it will be a 10 pounder someday!

Fantastic, and way to start your life together! Remember, "happy wife, happy life"! And she fishes, too. So great start!

Nice. Did you keep the fish?

No way. Wouldn't ever keep a fish with those genetics. A few pics and back in the water! If I ever caught an 8 or 9 in Oklahoma or Kansas I would consider getting a fiberglass replica.

Awesome fish! My wife caught her PB smallmouth and largemouth both last year about 2 weeks apart. It was pretty awesome being there to see it both times too.
