Hey guys so I had a quick questions for those of yall that fish the little john cranks. How much depth would you say you get out of the MD, and what line do you use? I fished one yesterday on 10lb Pline Fluoroclear, and to be honest I never felt like I was getting the 8-10ft that I thought they were to supposed to run. I am just wondering if others feel like this as well?

Also if anyone uses the Baby DD how deep would you say you get that, and on what line?

Thanks guys!

I've been fishing the little john MD extensively this year and I agree that 8-10 is little deep for what mine usually average. I'd say 6-8 is a little closer to what I get. I've used 12lb FC and 15lb FC and I really have to point my rod down quite a bit to get it staying in that 8ft range. Overall I have to say I really like the MDs though, definitely my favorite little john series bait and I've been absolutely slaying largemouth and hybrids with them on my home lake. I've had trips where I landed 15+ fish with just the little john MD alone. Chrome olive is my go to color. I also landed the fish from my profile pic with a little john MD earlier this year. I haven't used the baby DD yet but that is definitely a bait I'm curious about.

Thanks for the reply! Do you also fish the normal little john with the circuit board?  How deep do you think you get it to go? Im wondering now if it is worth having both of them or just get one?

I used the MD yesterday in cell mate, and my dad was using a regular little john in cell mate and together we put around 25 fish fish in the boat. It was the best day of fishing I have ever had. The little john series is quickly becoming my favorite crank out there.

I have the regular one but I don't uses it as much as the MD. I've actually thrown the MD in water as shallow as 3-4ft and just pointed my rod tip up and pulled fish out just fine. I would say the MD has more versatility than the regular one but their both great lures. Cell mate is an awesome color too, they have some great colors.

Definitely worth getting both IMO. The MD does seem to run a little shallower than advertised, but is still a must in 5-8 foot of water. I still like the regular LJ in 5 or less for the reason I can burn it and it not be digging a new channel. In 3 foot of water the MD would not be as easy to work very fast once it hit the bottom do to this reason.

That makes a lot of sense, thanks!
