BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted May 17, 2014 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted May 17, 2014 Finally I got my 899 for the bow. Many thanks to Wayne P for convincing me to get the bigger one and to Ron at Valley Sports for hooking me up with a great deal. Here she is. I can't wait to get on the water tomorrow and go exploring the offshore hydrilla. 1 Quote
Super User slonezp Posted May 18, 2014 Super User Posted May 18, 2014 I moved from an 858 on the bow to a 1198 and I can't tell you how pleased I am. Quote

I have an 1198 at the helm. I was thinking of switching them but after using it today it is plenty big enough and does not get in the way. Quote

That will give you full width screen for the SI-only view like this: 1 Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted May 19, 2014 Super User Posted May 19, 2014 I have an 1198 at the helm. I was actually thinking of swapping them but I think I'm going to keep it the way it is and check into a 360. Quote

Maybe I am missing something. Quote

The Ethernet hubs are on national backorder. The main advantage is being able to mark a waypoint while searching at the helm and being able to go back on the trolling motor. If you have Ipilot Link, you would be able to run it from both the helm and the bow. Quote

Super User Wayne P. Posted May 19, 2014 Super User Posted May 19, 2014 With Ethernet, there are several advantages. Sharing waypoints to take advantage if the high accuracy of the GPS--fishing at a waypoint created at the console. The waypoints on one unit are displayed on the other unit and not written to the other unit's memory. That gives you double the waypoint capacity for your two unit system. Sharing a transducer to prevent cross-talk when operating both units while fishing if you want your partner to have sonar to watch. Sharing accessories like temp sensors, iPilot, and 360, Quote
