What is the best line for a spinning reel? Have tried braid with leader but tying the knot is a nightmare for me in dim light, wind, and due to poor eyesight. I have been using braid without a leader- currently #15 PowerPro. I do a lot of jigging and whacky worm fishing so am looking for a line that is supple and has high visability above the water as I like to "line watch". Used to fish blue stren, but I found any mono I used would coil and act like a "slinky" within half a day due to line twist especially from vertical fishing. Is there a Hybrid or mono product that would do the job or at least be better.? Should I stay with straight braid and forget the leader? Would a line conditioner help with this problem? Any thoughts or opinions would be welcome as I'm getting frustrated.

Not really a line suggestion but why not try tying your leaders on at home. A 6-7 foot leader will usually last me a few trips and 5-10 reties depending on lures.

Line conditioner on light fluorocarbon/ yo-zurihybrid should be fine as long as it's not a cheap line that will have manageability issues also the hybrid comes in a model specifically for spinning but I've never used it. If you like braid there's many multi colored braids like fireline tracer braid that are easy to see on top but low vis to fish

If fish seeing your line is a concern color the last several feet with black sharpie

My local tackle shop owner turned me on to Mccoy copoly years ago specifically for spinning gear. It's the only line I buy. Negatives...unless you have a local dealer you'll have to order online.

Water... It's reasonable in price... Easy to find..

6 or 8 on spinning should be fine...

It's not cheap, but 8lb Toray Bawo Super Polyamide Plus would be just the ticket, I think. It's supple and strong. It has this odd watermelon fluorescent color that blends quite well with most waters, but is still visible enough to line watch. I have it on a couple of my casting reels and it's one of my favorite monofiliaments. If you wanted the most supple line on the market, that'd be Sunline Defier. It has zero memory at all, period. However, it only comes in dark green and it's not always easy to see.

Several line companies have a Yellow superline. I use the Yellow Daiwa Samurai.

 

The line I used before that was the Gold Stren Superbraid. I still have about 1000 yards of it.

 

Under some lighting conditions even the Yellow is hard to see when wearing polarized glasses. I have some reels prepared for that using red softbait lure dye to have a contrasting pattern that is easier to see than a solid color. Works for me and the fish don't care.

 

 

 

If you think a bass will run away from yellow, throw this combo near a smallmouth and it will just about take the rod away from you. A largemouth isn't scared of it either.

The best line is the one that you like the best.  I'm a braid user and leader user 100% of the time, I'm not a line watcher so color isn't important to me.  If you are having trouble tying your leader it's a good idea to do it a home where it isn't windy.  I use a swivel most of the time, except when I'm targeting certain species, bass isn't one of them.  I tie on about 20" leader with an ordinary clinch knot for every single species I fish for.  Even with poor eyesight this is an easy knot to tie while fishing, it can be replaced as often as you wish.  Strength, I've caught bonefish on light leaders with this knot.
