I bought the original ltx model about 3-4 years ago. I broke 3 of them within 6 months and had grooving problems with the guides. Also had issues getting replacement rods sent to me. Not sure if they've gotten better in recent years, but I stay far far away from that company. I will say my last replacement they upgraded me to the gold series (after sending them a not so friendly email) and that rod has held up well to this day, but still with all the issues I wouldn't give them my money.

Do a google search and you will find plenty of people complaining about breakage issues.

The Canadian company who owned carrot stix

Sold to a Chinese co. Now in California. My advice is to look at other rod brands... I have a 7'

PG rod and it's good with mono.... Very lite, very sensitive ... I got it for 40$ new!

Stay away from them.. Look at *** or Fenwick

I was going to buy one a few years back until I started doing internet searches.  Probably saved me a lot of headaches.

To be fair, they are totally re designed and under a totally new ownership so previous experiences shouldn't be held against the new company.

There is a reason the previous company went under. Their rods broke a crazy clip and they couldn't keep up with replacements etc.

Kistler also went through a period where their rods were breaking all over and they almost went under and have even able to salvage their reputation through hard work. Let's see if the new company can do the same

I have two flipping rods that are carrot sticks. One is the gold and the other is a regular. I love them and they are my go to rods. I can't tell you for sure when I bought them but I would say 8 years ago or so. I have a tournament Sunday and want an extra flipping rod setup for the lake we are fishing and I had to look for my G Loomis. That's how long it's been since I've even had it in the boat. For me it's a nice rod.

I read about a lot of the early rods breaking.  Have read some good about the new Black series rods.  Met a young fellow last weekend who bought one and a Shimano reel for less than the price of the reel.  It was a spinning rod/reel combo.  He mounted an Abu Silver Max (huh?) on it and loves the rod.  Says casting with it is very accurate.  Personally I would be willing to try one if I could get a good deal.  Might wind up liking it.  Didn't handle his rod, but I have heard they are pretty light.

In 2007 E21 received 3 ICAST awards, best freshwater rod, best saltwater rod, and best overall product.   The original rods were endorsed by Boyd Duckett, and  the first year they sold something like 69,000 rods at 149 dollars.  The original rods were the dark orange  LTX series they were light and very sensitive.   Of these rods I owned 3, I fished them for 3 years, sold them to a friend, who sold them and as far as I know they are still fishing.   The problem was after the original LTX rods were built E21 started compromising on quality and were not building to the original specs.  Boyd Duckett soon departed the company and said that he did not want his name associated with a product that he was not comfortable with.  Since that time they have been plagued with poor quality and a non existent customer service.

While they may be under new ownership/management  my advice would be to be very careful with a purchase of this product.  I once was an adamant supporter of E21, I loved their product and it was what I considered a rod that fished well above its price.  Because of the concerns mentioned above I and many others I know that once enjoyed their product have moved on.

I bought a Carrot Stick Wild three years ago from Gander on sale for $85 and it is still going strong.

I bought a E21 PG (pro grade) casting rod about 4 years ago, and is still going strong.  I have caught more fish on this rod than all my others combined, literally hundreds of bass.  Even landed a 12lb northern pike and accidentally snagged a 20 plus lb carp once and landed it too.  Mine is a great rod, very light and the sensitivity is very good, as well as excellent backbone.  I know the Pro Grade isn't made anymore, and have not tried the others, so cant recommend the regular carrot stix wild to anyone.

I have owned 2, a wild and wild black. The wild black snapped on a hook set of a 2 pounder. The wild is still going strong and going to be used for catfish this year. Spent two months just trying to get a reply for the black before I gave up and decided no more rods from them. Maybe the new company has better customer service.

I've had 2

The 1st one, the butt cap fell off within a day. I returned it to gander and got another. Within a month the coating started separating. I really liked the rod but I gave up on them after that. I liked the flashiness.

I hear the new company has been taking care of past customers way better than E21 did. I don't like the look of the new carrot stick, but don't mind the other models.
