Planning on replacing some old spinning rod/reel combos soon. I have 3 I wanna replace. One I'll be using for weightless senkos, one for drop shotting and one for shaky heads. I'll be using Denali rods but I'm still undecided on the reel. What would you guys recommend?

Shimano Stradic FJ 2500 would be a great "cheaper" alternative however I've been fishing with a 2500 series Shimano Stradic Ci4+ and I prefer that over the sustain I had.

I have a Pflueger President and have never had any issues with it.  I bought it to replace a Shimano spinning reel.

Wow! At over $150. I do not believe that could be considered "cheap". JMO. :)

Not sure how much you're looking to spend, but I've got a couple of Revo Premier spinning reels that I absolutely love! They are silky smooth and their drag is ridiculous! Super smooth and no extra start up inertia. Not to mention the reel looks like some sort of fine jewelry and comes with an extra spool too.

Anything less than $150, should be a Pflueger.

I like the XX30 series.  I have ~5 right now.  Presidents, President XT (2 of them), Supreme, Supreme XTs, Trion for the wife.

This. I own a President, a supreme, and supreme XT. They range from $60, $100, and $150.

All are fantastic reels that I have used for nearly every application and I have yet to have ANY issues that a thorough cleaning couldn't handle. Once you get to the $150 price point a new level of reels open up for different vendors. Under $150 get a Pflueg and thank us later.

My money would be on these depending on what you want, !000 sze for lightweight finesse or 2500 for heavier work. 65.00 Shimano Sahara, $85.00 range Shimano Symetry, $135.00 Shimano StradicFJ, $200.00 stradic Ci4+ $240.00 Shimano Sustain, these reels can all be had atr these prices if your patient. Personally the best bang for the buck is a Stradic FJ, these reels all have better resale value than any other reels period, I have a lot of friends that prefer other reels,,,,,,,,,till they try one in real life fishing, Just my experience! My spinning needs are all covered by Stradics and Sustains today, even a couple 4000's for big trout salmon and pike, they stand the test of time!

Assuming the reel will be used in freshwater for bass, I don't for see any major stress being put on a reel from either the fish or the elements.  Any major brand around $100 is going to be fine IMO, most seem to be smooth with a more than satisfactory drag.  If weight and/or balance is an issue I would take my rod and put a few reels on it to see what you like the best.

Not that I believe too many problems will arise with a fresh water reel, other than a cleaning, I would pay attention to customer service.  In that arena I have not dealt with companies better than Pure Fishing or Quantum.

I'm a huge Shimano fan but if you want a reel as nice as a Stradic that won't cost you as much then try to find a Diawa Tierra, you can find them for about 110-125 now and they are my favorite spinning reel ever, silky smooth drag and great power, I've got two of them and I'm not even sure how I pieced together 125 dollars to buy them one at a time but I did because I knew they would be worth it. Three years later, still worth it!

Pflueger, Pflueger, or a Pflueger.

best spinning reel for the money... imo

i use spinning reels 90% of the time

i currently own 2 President's and 3 Supreme's.  not one single problem, ever, in over 25 years of using Pflueger reels.  the one Shimano Symetre i gave a try, didn't compare... especially for the money.
