A friend of mine and his wife took me to one of his "secret" location ponds. While fishing, he mentioned another pond that he always posts pics of on Facebook. This one he says is about 5 acres and produces 5+ pound fish almost daily. I've seen the pics and they seem legit. He said he would drive me there but once we got off the main road, I would have to be blindfolded for about 5 minutes as it is a true "secret". I don't know for sure but I think he was actually serious!!!! I just kinda chuckled and we talked about other stuff. So just curious. Would you all go to a secret pond if you couldn't see where it was?? Wonder how these comments will go LOL!

If I am being taken to a place that routinely produces 5lb bass, I will ride in the trunk of the car for 5 minutes if needed.

We have fished a time or two in the past. Not one of our "inner circle" friends. You know, the ones you see once every few weeks but chat in Facebook time to time.

In any event, if I had a sweet spot. I would take my friends knowing they would KEEP it a secret. :-)

No blindfolds. Lol

A Secret is something you tell to one person at a time.

200 beat me to it. I would happily ride to the spot blindfolded, then when there just pull up the GPS and pinpoint the location.

yeah agree with this for sure.. Not to mention in my area "5 Mins" would not be long enough for me to not figure out where the location was anyways. Especially if I know the first road off the main road my "friend" took me off of.

And there is the problem.....Facebook friend. I have real life friends. Not internet friends. People have 300 "friends" on Facebook and no actual friends in real life.

Welcome to the internet age I suppose.

I don't trust anybody enough to let them blindfold me.... For anything.

Because you are an amateur. The correct answer is you lull him into a false sense of security and steal all his numbers, and he is never the wiser. Here is a screen shot of real time tracking of one of the San Diego Long Range boats, as I said, never the wiser. Who wants to take me fishing?... :)

Secret fishing holes are as big a myth as the skunk ape (sorry guys).

Twelve years ago my daughter was a training for competative Hunter- Jumper

riding. We moved her horse to stables just outside of town. I drove her to her

lessons and noticed a pond in the back portion of a very large pasture. It looked

to be about 20 acres or so. I asked the owner for permission to fish the pond,

which was fine  by him. I asked if it was stocked and not being a fisherman he

didn't know, but he had bought the property about ten years earlier and as far

as he knew, it had NEVER BEEN FISHED!

Huge and hungry. I do not believe these bass had EVER seen a Senko.

There are not enough bass, or a bass big enough to make me be blindfolded by a casual acquaintance and hauled into the woods. I have seen the movie Deliverance...

Seems the majority side with:

"I'll let him blindfold me and lie about honoring his wishes to keep its location secret even from me....and then when he can't see me, I'll go behind his back, against his wishes and have my way with his pond"

But, I'll still let him call me 'friend'.....

This adds credence to DVT's post about secret fishing holes. There may be virgin spots, but as soon as they are known by one all bets are probably off.

For one thing, I'm claustrophobic and I'll be darned if I will wear a blindfold for anyone for anything.

Another thing, telling ANYONE a secret fishing hole is not good.  Example,  In Wisconsin, my step dad and I found a small lake in the woods that we had to drag a canoe through the woods to get into.  We caught a lot of nice sized yellow perch in that lake.  He liked to brag to his friends.  That winter, someone plowed a trail in the snow to that lake.  It was loaded with ice fishing shanties.  I don't know of anyone that ever caught anymore perch in that lake.  A bunch of people can clean out a small lake, in the winter, when you find where they school.

If I have a secret spot I don't tell.

I knew a guy that had a secret spot to find morel mushrooms.  When I asked him where it was, he asked me for my wife.  I got the point.

I have encountered a few of these spots in the wild, and I will never tell a soul.

Secret spots can be hidden in plain sight too, on bigger waters. A lot of spots aren't so much secret, as they are overlooked.

A good friend of mine is a farmer in Virginia and has 2 ponds on his farm that are just like this one you describe. He doesn't fish except when I go down there. I'm pretty sure nobody fishes the ponds other than him and I when I go visit. First time we fished them together he said they hadn't been fished in over 10 years.

My opinion he is not a true friend if he won't share a fishing spot.  Most friends are happy to share these types of things.

Ron

That's for sure, personally I give up all my places to just about anyone, exception the ones bragging about their secret spots.

Blindfolded to catch a 5# fish, you gotta be kidding.  A 5# fish isn't a big enough deal to kiss some ass.

I tell a few ppl of my spots but never anyone I don't trust. If you know my spots you are more than likely fishing with me, as these spots are not on Google maps. I have 3 spots that are on Google maps but nobody fishes them. I say respect that he wants to bring you there then just keep going with him.
