Lasher Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 In the store looking at the new brand of Seagaur lines and noticed the 6lb test is the same price as 16lb test. Is there a time when 6lb is better than 16lb? If they are the same price, wouldn't you want the strongest line? Guess it depends on the setup and style your using, but I would buy the strongest possible if it does not make a difference Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Smaller finesse baits require lighter line to have the best action. I also believe lighter line move less water and is less obtrusive to negative fish. IMO this is more of a factor than visibility when talking about "line shy" bass. Quote

Super User Raul Posted May 14, 2014 Super User Posted May 14, 2014 A big bunch of baits have a much better action when not tied with rope. 1 Quote
David D. Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 My spinning combo usually has 6 or 8 lb mono or 20 lb braid with 6 lb mono or fluoro leader. My bait casting combos usually are spoiled with about 15 lb mono, 50 lb braid, or 50 lb braid with a 12 lb fluoro leader. It isn't about getting the strongest line for your money, it's about getting the right diameter line for the style fishing that you will be doing. Quote
Arv Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Lighter line/smaller diameter lines may cast lighter weights better as well, given everything is appropriate. Quote
