I prefer to rig my creature baits weightless texas rigged usually with a 3/0 wide gap hook. The carolina rig works good too because it gives the bait a slower fall rate.

I use a weighted hook on craw baits and things like the Berkley theif/beaver tail style baits. It give them sort of a swimming/gliding action as they fall and that's when I get most of my bites. It also slows their fall a lot and that gives it more time in front of the fish I feel. On brush hogs I usually use a very light t rig for the same reason, it slows the fall. Keep in mind, I'm not fishing in anything deeper then six to eight feet as I'm primarily a bank fisherman. so I don't need to wait for it to fall to 20 feet deep or anything.

It's an awesome way to present most plastics but seems to work especially well with creature baits of all kinds.

Keep it simple stupid. KISS.

My MOST SUCCESSFUL..

Texas rigged and or a punch rig (same really, just ad a skirt)

On a jig

On a c rig

A punch rig is pegged while a Texas rig is not pegged in its basic configuration.

Lots of companies make them, but I make my own :)
