cjam93 Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Hey guys so I need to put some new line on my deep cranking set up. I usually throw Baby Little Johns, 5xds, and 6xds on the same rod. Lately I have been using P line Fluroclear in 10lb on all of my setups, except for the ones I use braid on, which I love, but I do want something with a bit smaller diameter for cranking a little deeper. I also dont want to break the bank if that can be helped haha. What would you recommend that I look into? Also would you recommend 8lb or 10lb test? Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted May 13, 2014 Super User Posted May 13, 2014 Try 10 pound P - Line 100% Fluoro. Works great and has a thin diameter. Apply generous amounts of KVD L and L Conditioner and you are good to go. Quote
Brian Needham Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 I just looked at several leading lines....... and you are not going to beat Tatsu or Invisx in line diameter which both are listed at .010. not going to get anysmaller than that without going braid.... and even with braid you are going to be so small you will be fighting "dig in" constantly. and before the yo-zuri crowd comes in.....6# yo-zuri is listed at .010. so there is no real benifit there either. Super User aavery2 Posted May 13, 2014 Super User Posted May 13, 2014 I use 12lb Tatsu, but can not reach 20ft depth on a regular basis with baits like the DD22, 6th Sense 300DD and Spro DD. Seems to be a magic depth that is hard to obtain on a regular basis. Quote

Brian Needham Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Thanks, what hooks you suggest I have no idea........ I honestly have not done this to my 6xds YET....... Randy Haynes which is a deep cranking fool here on the TN River, has stated that's how he gets 22 foot out of his 6xds...... so I am looking forward to trying it too. Quote
TorqueConverter Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Try a #30 braid or a #20 if you want to makes baits diver deeper than rated. Quote

Brian Needham Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Try a #30 braid or a #20 if you want to makes baits diver deeper than rated. that is the same size as 10# flouro so nothing is gained sizewise........ plus you have to worry about the braid digging, and god help you if you ever lash that small of braid . 30# is boarder line Quote
