Super User slonezp Posted March 18, 2011 Super User Posted March 18, 2011 I went fishing with my 21yo son for our annual cooling lake trip. He shows up at my house last night and says he did a bad thing. He stopped off at BPS and picked up a Revo S/Carbonlite combo. So I showed him a STX/ Fenwick combo I just bought. So we're out on the boat and he says "You bought 2 combos?" To which I replied "Yes, I'm spending my tax refund(edited)" "Dad, You have a problem." So we get back to my house and there is a TW package sitting on the porch, which he acknowledges as I'm backing in the driveway. Then, the postman comes up and hands me another package. "Dad, Is that another TW package?" "No...It's Megastrike scent" "Dad, You need help" I'm OK... Right? Do you guys think I need help? I recall having the same conversation with my father on a number of ocassions. My father seems ok. He only owns 25 or so combos, along with boxes of tackle. Please tell me I'm normal. BTW we slayed the bass. No giants but lots of #'s Quote
b.Lee Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 Just tell your son, "One day all this tackle will be yours, and then I pass my problem to you." Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 19, 2011 Global Moderator Posted March 19, 2011 Just tell your son, "One day all this tackle will be yours, and then I pass my problem to you." That would shut me up. I'd be pointing out new stuff to him all the time! ;D Quote
Locked Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 The only problem is when you don't have money to buy new stuff. Quote
MNGeorge Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 My boys talk openly about they plan to divvy up my tackle when I'm gone. ;D Quote
Mr SwimJig Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 My son didn't think I had a problem till he walked into the fishing room today and tried to help inventory the soft plastics for the year...3 hours later and he still has 4 boxes left.lol SJ Quote
GrizzerGreen Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 This reminds me of the song "Cats in the Cradle" haha I may only be 16, but I see a strong chance of my future being your reality atthe moment. haha, just today, I was at TSC and in the clearence bin they had a 2 pack of Matzuo Phantom Minnows for like $2. I couldnt help myself. Plus....TW and BPS are nice. But we all know thatthe best lures come from the clearence bin at TSC. Quote
Brandon K. Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 When my dad would tells me I have to much stuff I tell him " Hey, I could be out boozin or shooting my money into my arm." That usually stops the negative comments about all my equipment. Not negative, more amazement than anything that I need all that stuff. He is very supportive of my addiction. Now I just need to get my fiance on that side of the fence. Quote
Luke at Gouldsboro Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 In the past 2 weeks, I've spent $657. I bought one reel, two rods, and the rest was tackle, and I'm not done buying for this spring yet... So, no I think you are normal. I've had boxes coming every 2-3 days for 2 weeks... Quote
bass or bass ? Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 Problem? What problem? If I had the money, I'd have the same "problem". Quote

I end up dropping a grand or so every year. Last season was an Ipilot TM plus tackle. This season was the 2 Revos, 2 Fenwicks, plus another $300. on misc tackle. I just keep hearing my mother screaming at my father "Why do you need all this @$%&!!!" every time I make a purchase. Probably a good thing I'm divorced. ;D I'm not bragging, I'm stupid. All this for a little green fish. :-/ Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted March 20, 2011 Super User Posted March 20, 2011 I agree with bass or bass. My father is 72 and to be honest we never get into those conversations. One day before the super bowl he mentioned to me that he as going shopping for a wide screen LED to watch the super bowl on. His exact words were: "I'm around for 20 more years, I may as well have some fun before I die". Can't argue with that logic. You have no problem. Quote
