Scorchx1245 Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 I'm looking to pick up a new bait caster, I currently have a quantum nitrous and want something nicer. The magnetic drag doesn't seem to really work, spool is aluminum? Anyways I've gotten decent at thumbing it and learning so I want to upgrade, I have 100-150 limit and wanted to know if you guys have any suggestions, I'll be throwing frogs, jigs, and cranks with this rod. I have a diawa spinning rod / reel that I use for finesse and another spinning reel that is my back up to my baitcaster. Quote
Super User tcbass Posted May 13, 2014 Super User Posted May 13, 2014 I love my Abu Garcia Revo SX. It's in your price range. It won the Outdoor Life Editor's Choice award last year. Quote
catch anything Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 there's lots of sites where you can pick up a tatula for around 20 bucks less than your nudget Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted May 13, 2014 Super User Posted May 13, 2014 Shimano Citica or save up another $30 and get the new Curado I Give Ron at Valley Sports a call. Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted May 13, 2014 Super User Posted May 13, 2014 Are you looking at spending $100 to $150 for each piece or is that total? Quote
Super User aavery2 Posted May 13, 2014 Super User Posted May 13, 2014 Pro Qualifier has dual braking and is well within your budget, you might even be able to pick up an entry level BPS rod and stay within 150. Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted May 13, 2014 Super User Posted May 13, 2014 I assume from your post that is your total budget. Won't buy a lot. New rod....look at a Berkley Lightning or Lightning Shock rod. New reel...look at the Abu Silver Max although the H2O reels get good reviews. I would go used so I could get more for my money. Quote
Scorchx1245 Posted May 13, 2014 Author Posted May 13, 2014 Awesome and yeah I am thinking about a revo and might shop for a used rod thanks for the help! Quote
