jr1945 Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 saw Hank Parkers show today and he was using this lure. i've checked everywhere i know of and nobody has it. anyone know where to find this? Quote
Super User Hooligan Posted March 18, 2011 Super User Posted March 18, 2011 Pretty sure they don't make them anymore. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 18, 2011 Super User Posted March 18, 2011 Try a different popper, like a Chug Bug, I'm sure it will catch. Quote
jr1945 Posted March 18, 2011 Author Posted March 18, 2011 i found out they are not in production anymore. guess Hank was doing a rerun show. looks like i'll have to make my own. Quote
Super User Hooligan Posted March 18, 2011 Super User Posted March 18, 2011 For what it's worth, I have a couple in frog. Never caught anything on them...(Maybe I should fish them some time) Quote
Super User OkobojiEagle Posted March 18, 2011 Super User Posted March 18, 2011 They have been out of production for several years, but occasionally you can find them on Ebay. If you have a chance to pick one up go for it. It continues to be my favorite popper. steve Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 19, 2011 Global Moderator Posted March 19, 2011 Check out the Rapala Skitter Pop. They have a really similar look except they are made of balsa instead of plastic. I've caught tons of fish on my skitter pops and one of the only wooden Rapala baits I have yet to break ;D. Quote
Super User OkobojiEagle Posted March 19, 2011 Super User Posted March 19, 2011 The Skitter Pop does have a similar appearance, but that's where the similarity ends. steve Quote
bear7625 Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 They are hard to find. I had found a couple sites, but this was the only one I saved. wsftackle.com Type frenzy popper in their lure search and click on the one you want to see. Hope this helps. Quote

The Frenzy is also a much more subtle sounding bait. Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted March 19, 2011 Super User Posted March 19, 2011 Ebay has a bunch of them for sale from between $7 and $20. I don' t think I would spend that much on a berkley hardbait. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted March 20, 2011 Super User Posted March 20, 2011 My catch rate seems to be the same with any popper, I love them. I liked my skitter pop until i had a bluefish bite it almost in half, last one I owned, haven't seen them on sale lol. Mirror lure pappa dog pops and walks, great bait. caught a 10 ponder on a blaze popper a couple of weeks ago. My #1, from cuda to bass and eveything in between, ebay 3 for 6 bux.....still catching fish, haven't gotten around to changing the rear treb. Quote

Two entirely different baits, the Frenzy is one you can wtd, chug, skip... The Frenzy is also a much more subtle sounding bait. I have no problem walking the dog, or chugging a skitter pop. I wouldn't skip it because I'd be afraid to break it. As for being more subtle, wouldn't a bait with no rattles and very light twitches be pretty subtle? :-? Quote
Super User Hooligan Posted March 20, 2011 Super User Posted March 20, 2011 Let me say it this way then, since we like to split hairs... The Skitter pop moves more water with the cup of its face than does the Frenzy. Also, I've got a few Skitter Pops and not one walks even remotely close to what the Frenzy does. Lastly, I'm not talking about skipping as in skipping docks, or skipping the bait across the surface as you cast; the Frenzy will skip forward, much like you'd see a torpedo to in terms of water displacement, without diving and chugging.
