HookSetDon Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Ive been throwing smitwick rogues for a while now, liking them and the price, i think im gonna spring for some lucky crafts this year, what do you like/ any suggestions? Quote
River Rat316 Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Pointer 78 in ayu or something like that. Next for warmer water is an xrap in perch Quote
lk ozark Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 I'm going to try LC's. Any one have any luck with them. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted March 8, 2011 Super User Posted March 8, 2011 X-Rap Xcalibur XT3 Both have always produced fish for me. Quote
Locked Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 I've had success with the X-Rap. I plan on getting some LC Pointers as well. Quote
Super User Hooligan Posted March 9, 2011 Super User Posted March 9, 2011 Pointers, Vision110, and Xrap. Depends on the conditions. Oh and Wild Shiner fishing for bass on pike lakes. I hate it when pike take my good baits away from me. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 9, 2011 Super User Posted March 9, 2011 Pointers, Vision110, and X-Rap. Maybe the McStick, too! 8-) Quote
MNGeorge Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 X-RapXcalibur XT3 Both have always produced fish for me. You must not have any rocks where you fish...I've broken the lips off 4 of the XT3's just bouncing off rocks. I've never broken a LC or an X Rap, both of which I like a lot in a variety of sizes. Another inexpensive one that works very well on river Smallies is the Bomber suspending long A in the 2 hook size. Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted March 9, 2011 Super User Posted March 9, 2011 I like Lucky Craft jerk baits. My favorite/best producing color has been Table Rock Shad. Quote
wisconsin heat Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 my best jerkbait is a LC pointer 78 real skin idk if the genuine fish skin on the lure makes a difference, but it was on sale so i said okay, and I'll use that when i cant get a bite in 30 min and i want to fish fast, (otherwise its a finnese worm)... never tried an xrap, the husky jerks arent too bad, but arent too good either(mine floats a tad) Quote
TrippyJai Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 I've had success with the X-Rap in warmer weather. I use the Pointer in the fall and haven't caught many bass, but I doubt it's the bait. I struggle during the colder months to catch fish. Quote
HookSetDon Posted March 9, 2011 Author Posted March 9, 2011 lots of feedback, no one likes smitwick lol, casting distance wise, xraps cast a mile dont they? with the ball bearings in them Quote
River Rat316 Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 smithwicks are to light for me, and I don't think I have ever caught a fish on one, I actually just took my remaining ones out of my jerkbait box and gave them to my son, I had to make room for more pointers and x raps.... gotta love Cabelas sales! Quote
Super User Hooligan Posted March 9, 2011 Super User Posted March 9, 2011 Pointers, Vision110, and X-Rap. Maybe the McStick, too! 8-) I haven't fished any McSticks yet. I bought a few because they're supposed to have a really tight action with the nose tipped just enough down. Quote
J_Pearson Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 I'm sounding like a broken record, but I've also really like X-raps and Pointers. They make up nearly my entire jerkbait collection. I did however bust my first keeper last year on a big smithwick rogue. So I'll definitely be throwing that some next week as well. I've read and heard great things about the Megabass Vision series, but they do cost a good bit more than the others. As for now, I'll stick with x-raps and pointers JP Quote
AndyPlaysDrums Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 x raps.... gotta love Cabelas sales! Just hit that up, too! Picked up a couple of X Raps and a few Husky Jerks! They were having a crazy cheap Yo-Zuri sale, too! $2.99 for most, though the couple I ordered are now backordered. Quote
basser89 Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 I do like the Rogues, even though they are a little on the light side. X-raps are great in warm weather for me. Started playin around with Daiwas DB minnow some last year too and had some success with them. I also throw Bombers Long A's once in a while too. Quote
central.PA.bass Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Lucky Craft Pointer, Live Target, and Rapala! Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted March 9, 2011 Super User Posted March 9, 2011 Owner Cultiva Rip'n Minnow 65SP Lucky Craft Pointer 65 and 78 I like to keep em small Quote
Primus Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 A lot of good ones mentioned, my most productive the last couple of years has been the Ima Flit. The Megabass Trick Darter will put 'em in the boat when the going gets tough. Quote
The Bassinator Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 I want to have the LC pointer 78 and 100 SP and DD, Rogues SP and Floating, X-raps and Orig. Floaters, Damiki Slim Jack(Maybe the longbill and striker), Spro McStick and McRip and maybe a few others but I think I've got a good list goin now ;D Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted March 9, 2011 Super User Posted March 9, 2011 X-raps, and husky jerks. Quote
