soopd Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 I purchased an elite 7 hdi unit to put on the front of the boat. I purchased from a friend who won the unit in a tournament. I was reluctant to buy it because I am a humminbird guy. He sold me the unit at a great price. Since using the unit I have really liked the unit. The sonar and down scan does a great job. I am able to mark fish and catch those fish if the fish are set up on the structure the way I like. Recently I was asking about a Navionics card for this unit. I thought I was going to buy the Navionics + card, however, I purchased a Navionics Premium card. I wanted to have a good Map so I can sit on a certain spot offshore. In the past I have just turned my humminbird around and use it. However, having a unit up front is the way to go. The Problem: Since installing the Navionics card the unit takes forever to load the map when I zoom in. If I zoom from 0.5 mile to 0.1 mile it takes about 5 seconds to load the map. The time increases as I zoom in. If I zoom down to 50 feet it takes 30 seconds to load the map. If I zoom all the way in to 30 feet scale it takes 32 seconds to load. I like the zoom to be pretty close if I am fishing offshore and trying to stay on a waypoint or at least close. It did not do this without the card installed. I also put the navionics card in my Humminbird 798 and increased the zoom all the way in. It took less than 2 seconds on each zoom level. I was checking to see if my card might be bad. I even took an old 2010 card and put it in my Lowrance to see if it would load faster. However, it still takes forever to load. Is this a processor issue? Software issue? I do have the 3.0 update on the Elite 7. Is there something else I can check before I contact Lowrance? Thanks Quote
nyghtryder_9 Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 I had the same unit. It does take a while to load the map pic when zooming in. I believe it has to do with the processing speed. I ended up upgrading to hds gen 2 and night and day difference. It take 1-2 sec and the maps uploaded. Quote
