Super User iabass8 Posted May 11, 2014 Super User Posted May 11, 2014 I'm looking at the swept 90mm. I found these for 62.99 via their ebay store. This includes the entire handle assembly knobs and all? can anybody comment on the knobs? are they like the zillion type r's..kind of in between the lexa and t3 knobs? Quote

Hogsticker Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 The knobs are thick, cheap, clunky plastic. Not cork like the nice Daiwa knobs. I like the handles, but the knobs are garbage. They also use a larger bearing than the stock Daiwa, so while coming with 4, they are useless if your not using the knobs. I ordered two handles and both came with knobs that are torn up. I like the hedgehog handles better. I had to use quite a few shims on one of the handles to remove all knob play. The basszone aluminum knobs are pretty sweet. Long story short, if you already have a set of Daiwa knobs get the handle, if not I'd go with hedgehog or semper fi. Quote
bootytrain Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 The Basszone handles look exactly like the Hedgehog Studios. If they are the same then the quality is excellent, especially for the price. Id get it Quote
Hogsticker Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 They may look the same in pics, but in person the basszone has a thicker more glossy sheen finish on it. At least mine do. Quote

Super User 00 mod Posted May 11, 2014 Super User Posted May 11, 2014 Have you contacted Mike or Robert and asked if they have anything in the plans, or a solution for this? They are very down to Earth friendly guys, and easy to talk to about problems, concerns, or wish lists! Jeff 1 Quote

Jeff Yes we have spoke. they have had plans to incorporate a solution to their handles not being able to support Daiwa knobs but they currently have nothing available. 1 Quote
oldschoolbasser Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 I contacted them, and they told me that the Daiwa cork knobs would fit their handles. The stock knobs aren't bad,a little on the hard side. The Hawgtech handles I bought are a better buy,and the accents matched my new reels perfectly! Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted May 11, 2014 Author Super User Posted May 11, 2014 The cork knobs are not the knobs I want to use. anything aside from cork apparently doesn't fit. Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted May 12, 2014 Super User Posted May 12, 2014 Hawgtech handles support their cork knobs or shimano septon knobs. Their sales would definetly go up if the produced a handle that allowed the use of Daiwa knobs. Quote
oldschoolbasser Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 Daiwa knobs will fit on these handles, but you have to change the bearings as the Basszone bearings are larger than the Daiwa bearings. I believe they are the same size bearings as the Revos. Quote
