They're centrifugal pop off the slide plate and engage them

Hmmmm that is not normal then for a brand new reel have you casted it all?

In the backyard but no more than 20 casts. Is the sound being caused by having the 3 pitch breaks turned on? the reel came lubricated and i havent taken it apart at all

I would look and see if there is something between the spool and the side plate that may have been picked up when being casted in the yard if you don't see anything that could do it I would contact Abu Garcia/pure fishing and they will take care of you

Could the noise be the mono going through my micro guides? trying to troubleshoot as many ideas as possible before i gotta send it in

Is the noise coming from the reel or the rods? Mono is generally on the quieter side of rods compared to braid

Check that your side plate is secure. The spring screw on the right side of the reel that allows you to remove the side plate may be loose. That happens alot on my revo S. When you secure that screw the noise goes away. At least it does for me when the noise happens.

You sir are the man! I cranked down on the screw and made sure it was super tight and to my surprise it was gone. Thanks for all the help everyone!
