Long story short is that i am moving from texas to florida in about a month. I sold my aluminum boat and have the opportunity to purchase a pretty clean older glass boat for 3500. Problem is that if i purchase that boat here in texas i have to haul it to florida with me. If i dont do it, i think i am passing up a good deal and im not sure what the used boat market is like in florida. I prefer to stay off craigslist and buy from someone on a forum that has taken care of it, so familiarity is important to me. If this were you, what would you do?

It's only going to be, at most and extra tank or 2 of gas to tow it. Even if you had it shipped it shouldn't be that much. The only other thing you need to be concerned about is registering it in FL, since different states have different fees and rules. If you really think it's solid boat, and a good deal, I'd say hook it up to the truck and take it to her new home.

My main concern with a Florida boat is the good possibility of being used in salt water. This makes them much more difficult to work on and causes many other problems within just a few years.

As Slonezp said it is really not much extra in gas to go from TX to FL.  If it is a good deal and you feel really comfortable with the boat no need to wait.  Pull the trigger.  After a big move like that you are probably going to need some time out on the water anyway.   :Victory:
