set_the_hook Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 when using a snap with cranks, do you eliminate the split ring? Quote
Ima Bass Ninja Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Most people do. I tried the snap thing, but found that some cranks it was very hard to get the snap through the wire loop so i went back to split rings and tying direct. Quote
mikeeasttn Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 I use snaps on all my cranks. It seems to let them work better and when changing baits is quicker and easier. Still retie as often as often as I feel I need to. Quote
Super User Sam Posted March 17, 2011 Super User Posted March 17, 2011 No. Snap the snap onto the split ring. Quote
EastTexasBassin Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 No.Snap the snap onto the split ring. agreed. No need to remove the split ring. BTW - KVD does the same thing. Quote
Super User Raul Posted March 17, 2011 Super User Posted March 17, 2011 In a lot of cranks if you remove the split ring you 're going to have a hard time trying to attach the snap to the eye because it 's recessed on a cavity in the lip. so snap to split ring is the easiest way to go. Quote

Especially top lures like a rebel popper, adding a split ring come in handy or no snap and just tie. Quote
