Most people do. I tried the snap thing, but found that some cranks it was very hard to get the snap through the wire loop so i went back to split rings and tying direct.

I use snaps on all my cranks.  It seems to let them work better and when changing baits is quicker and easier.  Still retie as often as often as I feel I need to.

No.

Snap the snap onto the split ring.  :D

In a lot of cranks if you remove the split ring you 're going to have a hard time trying to attach the snap to the eye because it 's recessed on a cavity in the lip. so snap to split ring is the easiest way to go.

Especially top lures like a rebel popper, adding a split ring come in handy or no snap and just tie.
