Hey guys so I was just wondering around what water temp do you usually move from using crawfish colored cranks to shad or other baitfish cranks?

There's no set temp. It's more along the lines of what bass are feeding on. You also need to remember that they are very opportunistic feeders so they'll eat it if it's easily available.

Why do you feel there is a need to stop fishing either one ?

Both produce for me from the start to the finish of the season.

Being I fish bodies of water that have both as well as them eating trout all winter.  Craw patterns work good, but let the fish tell you what they want.  If you pay attention to each fish and how it's hooked it can tell you a lot.  If they are just swiping at it, or trying to eat it.  I would fish both, just read the signs.  If you're in an area with lots of baitfish, throw the shad color.  If you're in a hard bottom/scattered rock and timber throw the crawdad, but don't hesitate to re-work that area if you caught a couple with the shad pattern too.
