Megastink Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Hey all! Lately, I've been killing time on the road (the life of a sales rep) by listening to BassEdge, a bass fishing podast. I discovered them after googling the thread title and coming up with nothing. I was crossing my fingers for a Dave Mercer or Mark Zona podcast, hell, even a Gerald Swindle would do! But, Kurt and Aaron do a great job. It got me wondering; what's your (if you have one) favorite fishing podcast and why? Quote
blongfishing Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 I tried to find some but I came across Florida Fishing Radio. It's ok but I wanna find one Bass in general not just in Florida. Might look again tonight. Quote
S_Miketa6 Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Just started getting into listening to podcasts and so far I've been listening to Bass Squad Radio and the FLW one. Quote
redux Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 The *** and FLW podcasts are both quirky, but they are great entertainment. The Itinerant Angler is a fly fishing podcast, but he has a good interview with Dave Chouinard who is a sales rep for Simms. They touch on Simms' history and foray into the wild world of tournament bass fishing. The Orvis podcast also has a few episodes where they talk about large and smallmouth bass. The host also has a sweet tooth for stripers. I like seeing that niche of fishing trying to bridge the gap. Yes, I know it is a marketing ploy to nab some money, but I still like the idea of our sport growing and getting into new demographics. Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted May 10, 2014 Super User Posted May 10, 2014 I di a lot of driving as well. Im a big fan of bass edge but i much prefer the 2013 episodes -present. I need some new podcasts as well Quote
Grantman83 Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 Ultimate bass radio has some cool podcasts every Saturday. They talk to a lot of elites as well but it is a western bass podcast so keep that in mind Quote
livetofish28 Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 Jody and Jessie's bass fishing podcast is pretty good Jody fished and did well on the VT bass team and the college series. He now does something with numbers for FLW Tight lines . Andrew Quote
michang5 Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 I found BassEdge about 6 months ago and I've listened to just about every episode once (and a few multiple times). It's the best one I've found with lots of tips and info. In my opinion, *** is too much chatting up sponsors and products and too little on how to use them. And a lot of it is about tournament standing and results, which has no appeal to me when I'm listening to old episodes. Ultimate Bass Radio isn't my cup of tea. I've listened to six episodes and only a 15-minute interview on bed fishing with Shaw Grigsby was informative. Half of the 60+ minutes are ads. Most of the other 30 minutes are tournament standings about anglers I've never heard of and specifics on west-coast fishing. I respect each for putting the effort into the shows weekly or monthly. I understand that they are free and need ads to pay the bills. But I listen to them for the same reasons I come to these forums -- to learn how to catch more fish. And only BassEdge consistently provides that info. Quote
